APPLICATION FOR ALTERATION OF COURSE OF WATER-RACE HELD UNDER LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE No. 1013, DATED 10TH JUNE, 1898.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Lawrence.

Pursuant to “The Mining Act, 1908,” the undersigned, the Golden Crescent Sluicing Company (Limited), hereby applies for an alteration of a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Date and number of miner’s right: 17th December, 1908; No. 74876.

Address for service: At the office of Crooke and Moore, Solicitors, Ross Place, Lawrence.

Dated at Lawrence, this 23rd day of December, 1908.

Schedule.

Locality of alteration of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Alteration commencing about one mile above the present terminal point of the said Race No. 1013 at dam applied for by applicant under Application No. 81, proceeding out of the said dam in an easterly and south-easterly direction, and following by open race the present course of the said water-race, but 40 ft. below (crossing on its way a tributary of Gabriel’s Gully Creek by siphon 60 ft. long), and passing through Section 2, Block XIII, Tuapeka East District, by a tunnel 40 ft. underground instead of over the surface, and terminating at the present terminal point of said race.

Precise time of marking out: 21st December, 1908, at 2 p.m.

Length and intended course of alteration of race: One mile; east and south-east.

Points of intake: One, at commencing-point.

Estimated time and cost of construction of alteration: eight months; £160.

Mean depth and breadth of alteration: 2 ft. by 3 ft.

Number of heads to be carried: Eight heads.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining purposes.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

Pegs marked W.R.

License No. 1013 produced herewith for the purpose of having the alteration applied for indorsed thereon.

Pursuant to “The Mining Act, 1908,” the undersigned, Gerald Joseph Perotti, of Greymouth and Reefton, Sawmiller, hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Date and number of miner’s right: 25th October, 1908; No. 71001.

Address for service: Office of Hannan and Phillips, Reefton.

Dated at Reefton, this 13th day of January, 1909.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Situate in Mawheraiti Survey District, north of Rough-and-Tumble Creek. Commencing at terminal point of applicant’s Water-race No. 1220 (i.e., at applicant’s present sawmill), running thence south-easterly (7½ chains) to applicant’s tram-line, thence along such tram-line and a road (about 42 chains), thence southerly 12½ chains and easterly 5 chains, crossing said tram-line and road, and passing through portion of Bitera’s private land, and

terminating thereon at applicant’s proposed site for additional sawmill, as per sketch-plan filed herewith.

Length and intended course of race: About 67 chains; south-easterly.

Points of intake: Terminal point of applicant’s said Water-race No. 1220.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Six weeks; £100.

Mean depth and breadth: Depth, 1½ ft.; breadth, 5 ft. in all.

Number of heads to be diverted: Sixteen.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Sawmilling purposes—to work applicant’s proposed new mill.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

Pegs marked P. Race marked out by 8.30 p.m., 12th January, 1909.
