Hungary, Landed Proprietor.
Improvements in cultivating-
machines.
Claims.—(1.) An attachment for soil-cultivating machines,
for turning soil and stubble and disintegrating deep soil,
comprising a plate or plougher-body adjustable to the part
of the travel of the machine, the said edgel being provided
with a helicoidal distributing blade, mounted approximately
to the plane of the plate and tangentially to the direction
of travel, and which, with suitably acting adjustable blades
mounted approximately to the plane of the plate and lying
between the hoes and inclined to the hoes at an angle of about
45°, serves to separate the loosened stubble. (2.) The de-
scribed attachment for cultivating-machines.
(Specification, 2s. ; drawing, 1s.)
No. 25794.—7th April, 1909.—ERNEST ROBERT HOPWOOD,
of The Villas, 65, Village Road, Acton, Chester, England.
Improvements in pneumatic devices for stamp-
ing-machinery.
Extract from Specification.—This invention has reference
to improvements in pneumatic devices for stamping-machinery, such as are
metal-flicrous ores to a finely divided state, wherein the power
from a pump delivers the blast which is formed by the air ad-
mitted through the medium of a cushion of air contained in a
cylinder, a valve being by its action connected together with
effective saving of power, at proper periods regulates the air
admission and exit of air, and it has for its objects and effects,
(1) more control of the movement and action of said class of
machinery as specified, comprising means for taking up the
said cushion of air and to give it elasticity for the admission
and exit of air.
[Note.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place
of the claims.]
(Specification, 7s. 6d. ; drawing, 4s.)
No. 25795.—7th April, 1909.—WILLIAM CLARK, of Junee,
New South Wales, Australia, Steam-shed Inspector of Rail-
ways. Improvements in exchangers in token systems of
railway-traffic control.
Extract from Specification.—A ground exchanger according
to this invention is adapted for token systems of railway traffic control for
handling tokens or keys between the ground and the engines, in which
the token in the act of being exchanged is thrown in a manner suitable to protect it from injury,
to the oncoming locomotive with its ring or bail downwards,
and to effect a grip on the exchanger arm, which latter is formed to
support or stay from the top of the mast. And an engine
exchanger according to this invention, adapted to take the
ram or straight stem with a spring and trigger and pads
formed on a downward slanting side thereof, and a buffer,
has a curved or slanting appendage with a spring, spring-in
trigger pads or the like, and preferably made of a soft
spring-in steel, or a spring-in plate with a soft spring-in steel plate,
cushion material.
[Note.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place
of the claims.]
(Specification, 3s. ; drawing, 2s.)
No. 25799.—7th April, 1909.—THOMAS LUTHER GREEN,
of Indianola, Indiana, United States of America, Manu-
facturer.
Improvements in sheeter or bar machines.
Extract from Specification.—Among the objects of my
invention are to provide a sheeter with a feeding mechanism
of durability ; its-walls adjustable to provide a varying opening
in its top for the passage of the material ; to cause the travel
of said die in their adjusted position ; when two different
dies are used, the thicker die acts as a support for the other
and the like, a partition may be introduced into the hopper
from above ; when the material has been formed into a
sheet either, a roller may be arranged at the top of the box
and the character of the latter; to provide the feed-rolls
with an adjustment for the lower roll (with adjustment for the
rollers without loss of engagement therewith) ; to provide
a carrier which is adjustable longitudinally or angularly,
or both, to feed the sheet or bars formed to a companion
carrier or to a cutter-mechanism, comprising a series of rotating
devices for delivering a succession of blows thereon; and shake
the sheet laterally, and to vibrate the material with
having a relative movement between it and the surface of
the sheeter at said points.
[Note.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place
of the claims.]
(Specification, £1 ; drawing, 6s.)
No. 25800.—7th April, 1909.—THOMAS LUTHER GREEN,
of Indianola, Indiana, United States of America, Manu-
facturer.
Improvements in wire-cut soft-cake machines.
Extract from Specification.—Among the objects of my in-
vention are to provide a forming-die with a cutter which
moves with a varying speed relative to the travel of the forming-
die, and in addition acts to control the drop and contribute
to the setting of the mass and cut off the mass, and mechanism
for cushioning the cutter movement ; to feed the dough or
mass evenly and with a uniform pressure at the die ; to pro-
vide a wide-space carrier to receive the cut loaves from the
die ; to feed the cut loaves by the carrier, to give such
loaves a uniform size and shape ; to transfer to the companion
carrier movement, to move the same quickly past the die to
receive another cut loaf (when a wide-space carrier is not used, a separat-
ing adjacent pane) ; and to vary the extent of said periodic
device movement.
[Note.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place
of the claims.]
(Specification, 18s. ; drawing, 6s.)
No. 25802.—7th April, 1909.—GEORGE HERBERT FARMAN,
of Newark, Ontario, Canada, Manufacturer.
Improvements
in interlocking metallic shingles.
Claims.—(1.) A metallic shingle having a joint formed
by its corrugated flange on one shingle fitting into an under-
cut groove on an adjacent shingle. (2.) The herein de-
scribed provision of a moulding in the flange of one shingle adapted to
fit into a corresponding moulding in the groove of the opposite
shingle.
[Note.—Here follow six other claims.]
(Specification, 6s. 6d. ; drawing, 1s.)

of Devon Street, Northcote, near Brisbane, Queensland.
Ap-
paratus for improved aeration in a beer improved bottle for
holding aerated drinks and other liquids.
Claims.—In bottles for holding aerated drinks and other
liquids, having an air-tube in the stopper to allow the air in the
rear to escape, and contractions formed therein ; and for the
purpose set forth, as described and in the drawings.
(Specification, 3s. ; drawing, 1s.)

TIAN, of Cardiff, Glamorgan, New Zealand, and
WILLIAM HOLDEN FREDERIC, of Stratford, Taranaki aforesaid,
Engineer, and HENRY SAMUEL DARTON, of Stratford
aforesaid, Merchant.
Improved apparatus for raising water.
Claims.—(1.) Apparatus for the purpose indicated, com-
prising in combination : (a) an air-tight communication with
a vacuum pump or the like for exhausting air from the tank,
and in such a manner that a vacuum is created and transferred
to said vacuum pump, and a pipe from the tank (with a pipe from
the tank or well leading to the bottom of the well) or like water
supply) or well, leading to the bottom of the well, or like water supply;
combined, and operating substantially as set forth, and il-
lustrated in the drawings. (2.) In apparatus of the nature
