No. 25717.—26th March, 1909.—ERNEST Moss, Mechanic,
of Albert’s Mansions, Victoria Street, Auckland, New
Zealand.—Improvements in or Improvements adapted to a
cheque or the like with the predetermined amount of the value
in order to prevent fraud from the same.
CLAIMS.—(1) In a device of the class described, the com-
bination with a suitable frame comprising a base plate, two
upright members secured thereto, a support member
between and attached to such upright members, and a pin
secured to each such upright members, of a sleeve revolvably
mounted upon each pin, a web secured to each sleeve to the
periphery of which are secured rubber numbers, an opening
in said web through which rubber numbers on said sleeves pass
so as to cause the lower portion of its periphery to project
beyond the lower surface of said web in order that the rubber
numbers in relief on dies in the desired position, substantially
as described and for the purposes indicated.

WILLIAM STROUD, Engineer, both of Dunedin, Otago, New
Zealand.—Improved portable folding stand.
CLAIMS.—(1) A portable table-stand, consisting of a hinged
box, its top and bottom forming respectively a part of the
table-top or seat, trestles consisting of legs suitably braced,
and a bracing of rods for the same, collars, staples, and stay
pieces operated by the said rod, longitudinal slots for the in-
sertion and withdrawal of the stay pieces, the whole being
adjustable and foldable, all substantially as described and as illustrated in the
drawings. (2) The general arrangement and construction of parts
forming an improved folding stand, all substantially as described
and for the purposes set forth and as illustrated in the draw-
ings.

GESELLSCHAFT HAMBURG, a Stock Company, of Palmaille 22,
Uhre Entrul Waewansky, of 14 Kingholmegatan, Stockholm, Sweden, and HUGO WILHELM LANGE, of 42 Hovedegegarde, Helsingborg, Sweden.—Improvements in interchangeable
inflatable tubes for milking-organs of compressed air
milk.
CLAIMS.—(1) Tubes or pipes in the form of a ribbon for the
milking-organ of a milking-machine working with pressure
air, characterized in that the ribbon consists of a lower half
or both sides furnished with a relatively thin and tight layer
of caoutchouc, substantially as described.

Clifton Place, Sauchiehall Street, West Glasgow, Scotland.—
Improved apparatus for developing, strengthening and strength-
ening the muscles of the body and arms.
CLAIMS.—(1) An incomplete hoop or flat ring provided with
handles or grips at each of its ends adapted to be gripped or taken
by the hands of the users in the exercise of forcing the open
ends together or apart against the force of a coiled spring
and a concentric scale-blade bringing the two ends of the hoop
together or apart as the occasion may demand, and with other
operations, substantially in the manner described and shown
on the drawings. (2) The general arrangement and com-
bination of parts forming an exercising-machine for the pur-
poses described and shown on the sheet of drawings.

Farmer, WILLIAM GORDON-JOHNSON, Farmer, and
JAMES GORDON-JOHNSON, Gentlewoman, all of Taiheke, Hokianga,
New Zealand.—Sowing and planting seed.
CLAIMS.—(1) In appliances for depositing manure and
sowing maize and similar seed, in a frame, a hopper for manure,
and in combination with them a hopper for holding manure,
and in combination with them a hopper for holding maize
and similar seed, a revolving shaft for imparting motion
and furnished with a suitable handle for imparting the motion,
and furnished with a handle and a small cog-wheel, also a
large cog-wheel from a lower shaft, a hopper having seeds in
the lower portion, with a similar hopper having seeds in a
lower portion, and an opening in the lower portion of the same,
of the seed to be sown, also capable of a reciprocating motion
in combination with the said lower shaft, also a seed-box for
depositing same in the sowing-shoot at each stroke with the
said motion for depositing in the sowing-shoot, with the said
reciprocating motion to deposit at each stroke in the sowing-shoot
of the seed to be sown, all substantially as described and
illustrated in the drawings. (2) The combination of an additional
disk at the bottom of the seed-box, for the purpose of
depositing the seed at each stroke of sowing, all substantially
as described.

minster, England.—Improvements relating to Direct-current
Turner, of 37 Rye Bank Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Man-
chester, England.—Electrical machinery.—Improvements in or
connected with electric braking.
CLAIMS.—(1) Braking apparatus of the kind described,
in which a plurality of windings of the motor(s) to be braked
is excited with current derived from the armature and with
field-magnet windings of the motor or motors in the speed
of the motor being run, all substantially as described. (2) Braking
apparatus of the kind described, in which a plurality of
windings of the armature of a motor or motors are connected in
parallel with the field-magnet windings of the motor or motors
for the purpose of developing electric braking, whereby the
back-flow windings of the motor are connected in parallel with
the field-magnet windings for the purpose of developing electric
braking, all substantially as described. (3) Braking apparatus
whereby the back-flow windings of the motor are connected in
parallel with the field-magnet windings for the purpose of developing
electric braking, substantially as described with reference to any
of the figures of the drawings.

Zealand.—Bracket.—Improvements in a clutch for motor-
machines, and the like.
CLAIMS.—(1) In a machinery, the combination with a suitable
base and a clutch-slide set to form an overhanging ledge for
the purpose, the whole as described and illustrated. (2) In
a machine, the combination with a slide constructed as described,
together with the bolt passing through the slide, together
along the line of the rest by means of tapered pine forced
into each slide, with the bolt passing through it, as described
and illustrated. (3) In a slide constructed as described, to
retain (1) the coupling rod of bolts passing through the slide
and (2) a tapered pin forced into the slide, for the purpose
of permanently securing the bars in position, substantially
as described and illustrated.

splitter.
CLAIMS.—(1) A fuse-splitting device, consisting of a tubular
casing, a slotted drift pin, and an electrical plug or connector, all
substantially as described. (2) A fuse-splitting device consisting of
conducting wires passing through the plug and into the cap to
form an electrical arc, the wires passing through the cap to form
an electrical arc, the wires passing through the cap to ignite the fuse
on the passage of a current through said wires.
