Notice to Mariners No. 36 of 1909.
ROCK OFF MOTUROA, OUTSIDE NEW PLYMOUTH HARBOUR.

THE New Plymouth Harbour Board report the existence of a rock off Moturoa, the position of which has been confirmed by Captain Post, of the Government steamer “Tutanekai.”
The following magnetic bearings mark the position of the rock:—
Summit of Moturoa, S. 44° E., distant 594 ft. from the N.W. extreme of Moturoa.
N.E. point of Moturoa and flagstaff on end of wharf, S. 52° E.
The rock is about 60 ft. in extent, in a N.E. and S.W. direction; the least water on the shoal is 13 ft. at low water, springs, with 10 fathoms close alongside, and various depths on the rock—viz., 15 ft., 16 ft., and 17 ft.

THE following regulation, in regard to the fees to be taken for the performance of certain duties under “The Imperial Merchant Shipping Act, 1894,” in the Protectorates of the Solomon Islands, Gilbert and Ellice Islands, and in Ocean Island, is published for general information.

KING’S REGULATION TO PROVIDE FOR THE FEES TO BE TAKEN IN THE PROTECTORATES OF THE SOLOMON ISLANDS AND GILBERT AND ELLICE ISLANDS AND IN OCEAN ISLAND FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF CERTAIN DUTIES UNDER “THE MERCHANT SHIPPING ACT, 1894.”
Made by His Britannic Majesty’s Acting High Commissioner for the Western Pacific under the authority of His Majesty’s Commission.
In the name of His Majesty EDWARD VII, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British Dominions beyond the Seas King, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India.
Short Title.
- THIS regulation may be cited as the (Merchant Shipping) Fees Regulation, 1909.
Fees to be taken by Port Officers in Protectorates and Deputy Commissioner in Ocean Island. Schedule.
- Whenever any Act mentioned in the Schedule hereto which shall, under the provisions of “The Merchant Shipping Act, 1894,” of the Imperial Parliament, or any Act amending the same, be done by, to, or before a British consular officer is, in the Protectorates of the Solomon Islands and of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, done by, to, or before an officer for the time being performing the duties of Port Officer, or which shall, under the provisions of the Acts aforesaid, be done by, to, or before a Superintendent is, in Ocean Island, done by, to, or before a Deputy Commissioner, there shall be paid in respect of that act the fee specified therefor in the said Schedule.
How fees to be accounted for.
- All fees levied under this regulation shall be accounted for by the officer levying the same to the Resident Commissioner for the Solomon Islands, or Gilbert and Ellice Islands, Protectorates, as the case may be, and, when so accounted for, shall be transmitted to the High Commissioner.
SCHEDULE.
For every declaration taken or recorded under the Merchant Shipping Act, with a view to the registry, transfer, and transmission of ships, interests in ships, or mortgages on ships .. 0 5 0
For indorsing a memorandum of change of master upon the certificate of registry, and initialling his signature on agreement with crew, if required .. .. .. .. 0 4 0
For granting a provisional certificate of registry (this fee to be exclusive of fees on declarations) 1 0 0
For recording a mortgage of a ship, or shares in a ship .. .. .. .. 1 0 0
