Kohi Road junction for as far as the money will allow of, the said Whangamomona County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 2½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all the rateable property of the Upper Mangaehu No. 1 Special-rating Area, comprising Section 9, Block X, Mahoe Survey District; Sections 9, 8, and 1, Block XIV, Mahoe Survey District; part Subs. 15 (300 acres) and 16 (500 acres), Block XII, Ngatimaru Survey District; part Subs. 1A (500 acres) and 2 (3,000 acres), Block XIII, Mahoe Survey District; part Sub. 13 (500 acres) and Sub. 1c, Block XVI, Ngatimaru Survey District; Sub. 17, Block IX, Mahoe Survey District; and Section 10, Block X, Mahoe Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above special order was instituted at a special meeting of the Council held on the 25th day of November, 1908, and was confirmed at a meeting of the Council held on the 18th day of January, 1909, in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and “The Counties Act, 1908.”

THE following special order, made by the Birkenhead Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

BOROUGH OF BIRKENHEAD.

Special Order making Special Rate.

We, Alexander Keyes, Mayor, Ernest Gilbert Skeates and John Green Kay, Councillors, of the Borough of Birkenhead, hereby certify that the following special order, making a special rate of ⅔d. in the pound to meet interest and sinking fund on a loan of £350, was duly passed at a special meeting of the Council called for that purpose and held on the 25th day of February, 1909, and confirmed at a special meeting of the Council held on the 25th day of March, 1909, viz.:—

That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Birkenhead Borough hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £350, authorised to be raised by the Borough of Birkenhead, under the above-named Act, for the purpose of providing for the necessary cuttings, fillings, general construction, kerbing, channelling, acquiring land, compensation (if any), and incidental works rendered necessary in the carrying-out of the scheme for providing a suitable grade from the proposed wharf along the main road to a point at the upper side of Bath Road, according to the plans and specifications prepared by the Engineer, H. Monro Wilson, now lying at the office of the Town Clerk, the Birkenhead Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅔d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Birkenhead, comprising Blocks 1, 2, 3, 57 to 67, Sections 1, 2, 5, 7 to 13, of Block 121, 128 to 164, and 227 to 230, all inclusive, of Blocks VII, XI, and XII, Waitemata Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the continuance of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The interest to be paid on the loan herein referred to is to be at the rate of 4 per cent. per annum.

In witness thereof the common seal of the Borough of Birkenhead was duly affixed in the presence of—

ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Polls on Special Loans.—Water-supply, £19,700; Drainage, £11,300; and Khandallah Public Hall, £1,000.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and “The Onslow Borough Drainage Empowering Act, 1906.”

I HEREBY give notice that on the 19th day of April, 1909, the above-mentioned proposals were submitted by the Onslow Borough Council to the ratepayers of areas duly defined by the Council in connection with each proposal, and that the numbers of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposals were as follows:—

I therefore declare the said proposals to be rejected.

Forbidding Money-order and Postal Correspondence for the Marston Remedy Company, London.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the company whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in advertising the treatment of diseases of the sexual organs, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of “The Post and Telegraph Act, 1908,” that no money-order in favour of the said company shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said company (either by its own or any fictitious or assumed name), or to such address without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.
