and to approve that they be attached to the 4th Battalion, Otago Rifle Volunteers, with effect from 8th April, 1909.

Fixing Date on which certain Returns under “The Fire Brigades Act, 1908,” are to be furnished.

PURSUANT to section 22 of “The Fire Brigades Act, 1908,” it is hereby notified that the returns showing the total gross amount of the premiums received by or due to fire-insurance companies during the year ended 31st December, 1908, shall be transmitted to the Fire Boards concerned, in the manner prescribed by the said section, on or before the 31st day of May, 1909.

THE following special order, made by the Whangamarino Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1908.”

WHANGAMARINO ROAD BOARD.

Special Order making Special Rate.

THAT, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges for a loan (additional) of £400, authorised to be raised by above Board, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” for the purpose of clearing off an overdraft incurred in the further metalling of roads in the Waerenga Special-rating District, the Whangamarino Road Board makes and levies a special rate of 4d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Waerenga Special-rating District, with the exception of Sections Nos. 481, 499, 480, 391, 477A, 476, 398, 429, 428, 390; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of interest to be 3½ per cent. per annum.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly passed in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1908.”

Special Order making Special Rate.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Whangamomona County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,500, authorised to be raised by the Whangamomona County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for felling, forming to dray-road width, bridging (exclusive of the Mangaehu Bridge), and culverting the Mangaehu Road from the end of the present dray-road formation in a continuously easterly direction towards the
