TAIHAPE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Loan of £3,750.
In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and its amendment.
I hereby give public notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Taihape Drainage Special-rating District No. 3, which was taken on the 28th day of April, 1909, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £3,750 by way of special loan for drainage, the following votes were polled: For the proposal, 20; against the proposal, 6; informal, 0.
As the number of valid votes recorded for the proposal exceeds the number of valid votes recorded against the proposal, I therefore declare such proposal to be duly carried.

Proclamation regulating the Introduction into the Colony of Cape of Good Hope of Beeswax and Foundation Honeycomb from New Zealand.—Notice No. 1294.

Wellington, 26th April, 1909.
INFORMATION has been received that the Government of the Colony of the Cape of Good Hope has, by a Proclamation dated 17th February, 1909, declared that it shall not be lawful to introduce into the said colony, or knowingly aid or assist in the introduction of, beeswax or foundation comb, save and except under written permission previously obtained from the Secretary for Agriculture, and subject to the production in the case of each consignment of sworn declarations in accordance with one or both of the forms set forth in the Schedule hereto, as the case may require.

Form of Declaration required to accompany Importations of Beeswax.

Defining Westport Extended River Limits for Tugs, Dredges, and Hopper-barges.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 189 of “The Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908,” I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Marine, do hereby define the Westport restricted limits within which extended river tugs, dredges, or hopper-barges not carrying passengers and propelled by steam, gas, oil, fluid electricity, or any mechanical power other than steam, may ply, to be within a circle of four nautical miles radius from the seaward end of the outermost breakwater at Westport.
As witness my hand, at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine.

Additional Rule for the Examination of Masters and Mates.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power vested in me by “The Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908,” and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I do hereby revoke clause 5 of the rules for the examination of candidates in First Aid to the Injured, which were made by Warrant dated the 9th day of October, 1908, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 15th day of the same month; and I do hereby make the following rule in lieu thereof.

- CANDIDATES for examination for certificates of competency as master and mate may attend the lectures in First Aid to the Injured on successive days, so as to enable them to receive the whole course of lectures and undergo the examination in the same week.

CEYLON.
COLOMBO.—A buoy, black and white cheq., is est. in 6° 57¼′ N., 79° 50¾′ E., at the srn. entr. to the harb., on site of proposed head of S.W. breakwater extension, 2 cables N. 14° W. from the lt.-h. on present end of breakwater. This buoy will be withdrawn annually from about 15th April to about 15th Oct. The line “Red lt. in line S. 57° E.” has been erased from the charts. Caution.—Vessels using the srn. entr. should not pass S. of this buoy. During the progress of the extension of the S.W. breakwater vessels should make use of the nrn. entr. March.
GALLE HARB. APPROACH.—The red buoy in 6° 1¼′ N., 80° 10¼′ E., ½ mile srd. of Ala Gala (Whale Rk.), in the wrn. approach to the harb., has been perm. withdrawn. Dec.
GREAT BASSES.—A narrow rocky ridge extends about 1 mile E. and W., carries 5 fms. on centre of shoal, in 6° 14′ N., 81° 33½′ E., with Great Basses Lt.-h. S. 59° W. 5⅛ miles, and Elephant Hill N. 31° W., and with general depths of 8 fms. to 10 fms. March.
EASTERN ARCHIPELAGO.
BANKA ISL.—The following lt.-buoys, exh. occ. white lts., vis. 10 secs., ecl. 10 secs., are to be est.: A black lt.-buoy, in place of the black can buoy, in 1° 32′ S., 105° 40¼′ E., on wrn. side of Penyusu Isl, Klabat Bay. A white lt.-buoy in 1° 55¼′ S., 106° 14¼′ E., on ern. side of Malan Tate (Fokke Reef). A white lt.-buoy, in place of the black can buoy surm. by a truncated cone, in 2° 1¼′ S., 106° 16¼′ E., on S.W. side of Sullivan Rks. A black lt.-buoy, in place of the black can buoy, in 2° 26¾′ S., 106° 25¼′ E., N. side of reef in approach to Koba. March.
SURABAYA STRAIT.—The pilot-vessel in the nrn. entr. to the strait has been moved about 7½ cables N, 17° E., and now lies in 6° 51¾′ S., 112° 44¾′ E., 10¾ miles N. 17° E. from Cape Piring Lt.-h. March.
CHINA SEA.
Tungsha lt.-v. is replaced on her station (31° 8′ N., 121° 59¾′ E)., and the temp. lt.-v. withdrawn. March.
Drinkwater Pt. lt.-v. has been replaced on her station (31° 24¼′ N., 121° 50¼′ E.), 3½ miles S. 23° E. from Drinkwater Pt. beacon, and the temp. lt.-v. withdrawn. The correct position of the lt.-v. is as given above, and not as shown in the List of Lts. March.
