Special Order made by the Council of the Borough of Waipawa.

THE following special order, made by the Waipawa Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” in substitution for that already gazetted on page 983 of the New Zealand Gazette, 1909.

WAIPAWA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Waipawa Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and sinking fund and other charges on a loan of £2,500, authorised to be raised by the Waipawa Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purchase of Section No. 37 and part Section No. 38, Block 16, Waipawa, and building situate on Section No. 37, known as the Odd Fellows’ Hall, and for rebuilding a portion of the said hall, and adding thereto a building to contain Borough Offices, Council Chambers, and Public Library, the Waipawa Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 5/6d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Waipawa (the boundaries of the said borough being described in Schedule to “The Waipawa Borough Act, 1907”); and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of December in each and every year during the currency of the loan, being a period of thirty-three years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above resolution was passed as a special order at a special meeting of the Waipawa Borough Council held on Thursday, the 18th day of February, 1909, and confirmed at a special meeting held on Monday, the 22nd day of March, 1909.

BOROUGH OF NEWMARKET.

“The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and Amendments thereof.

I HEREBY give notice that the result of the poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Newmarket taken on Friday, the 24th April, 1908, on the proposal of the Newmarket Borough Council to raise a special loan of £5,000 for the purpose of carrying out drainage-works in the said borough, was as follows:—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 55; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 10; majority in favour of the proposal, 45.

And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF NEWMARKET.

Loan of £5,000.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

I, Francis Bennett, of Newmarket, in the Provincial District of Auckland, Mayor of the Borough of Newmarket, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all the proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards the sanction of the ratepayers of the said borough to the proposal to raise a special loan of £5,000 for the purpose of carrying out drainage-works in the said borough have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1908.”

MOTUEKA HARBOUR BOARD.

In the matter of “The Motueka Harbour Board Act, 1905,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

I, THOMAS PATTIE, Chairman of the Motueka Harbour Board, hereby give notice that on the 26th day of April instant a poll of the ratepayers in the Motueka Harbour District was held and taken upon the proposal of the Motueka Harbour Board to borrow £13,000 for the purpose of the improvement of the Motueka Harbour, as duly advertised in accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, and that at such poll the number of valid votes recorded was as follows: For the proposal, 344; against the proposal, 40.

Now, therefore, inasmuch as the number of valid votes so recorded in favour of the said proposal was more than three-fifths of the total number of the valid votes recorded at the said poll, I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Special Loan of £21,250.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and its amendment.

I HEREBY give public notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Taihape Water-supply and Electric Lighting Special-rating District, which was taken on the 28th day of April, 1909, on the proposal to borrow the sum of £21,250 by way of special loan, apportioned as follows for the undermentioned works—

Constructing waterworks .. .. £11,000
Installing electric light .. .. .. 7,500
Constructing septic tanks .. .. 1,250
Constructing public baths .. .. 1,000
Erecting fire-brigade station .. .. 500


Total .. .. £21,250

the following votes were polled: For the proposal, 50; against the proposal, 5; informal, 3.

As the number of valid votes for the proposal exceeds the number of valid votes against the proposal, I therefore declare such proposal to be duly carried.
