Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of Roads through
Tumu-Kaituna Nos. 5b and 6b Blocks, Auckland Land
District.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency
the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under
the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works Act,
1908,” that the roads described in the Schedule hereto were
duly taken and laid off through the lands specified in the
said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the
said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 15th August, 1901.

general information.

KANGAROO ISLAND, BACKSTAIRS PASSAGE.—CAPE ST.
ALBANS LIGHT.
REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 20 of 1908, masters of
vessels and others are hereby informed that a fixed white
light of the fourth order, showing white between the bearings
of E.S.E. and west by south, and red from west by south to
north over the Scraper Shoal, and until obscured by Cape
Willoughby, is now shown from a masonry tower painted
white, the focal plane being about 120ft. above high water.
The light will be visible for a distance of about seventeen
miles. The above-mentioned bearings are correct magnetic
and as from seaward. Approximate position : Latitude
35° 48′ 40″ S., longitude 138° 7′ 25″ E.
This affects Admiralty Charts 2389A, 1014, and 25.

PORT ADELAIDE.—ROBINSON BRIDGE, McLAREN WHARF.
Masters of vessels, pilots, and others are hereby notified
that a semaphore has been erected at the northern end of
the S.A. Company’s No. 3 Shed, McLaren Wharf, and that
when vessels are passing out of the company’s basin, or
about to pass out, the semaphore will appear in a horizontal
position.
This affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 1750, 1752, and 2389B.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the
Marine Board, Port Adelaide, is published for general
information.

KANGAROO ISLAND, SOUTH-WEST COAST.—CAPE DE COUDIE
Temporary Light.
REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 26, masters of vessels
and others are informed that a temporary fixed white light
is being exhibited from Cape de Couedie pending the completion of the first-order light now in course of erection. A
ship's ordinary masthead light is being shown, and is visible
fifteen miles to seaward from east half north around to
north-west half west approximately.
This light will be continued until the first-order light is
exhibited.
This affects Admiralty Chart No. 2389A.

Marine Department, Brisbane, is published for general
information.

RESTORATION OF CAPE BOWLING-GREEN LIGHT, EAST COAST
OF AUSTRALIA.
REFERRING to Notices to Mariners Nos. 4 and 5 of 1908, the
removal of Cape Bowling-green Lighthouse having been now
completed, notice is hereby given that, on and after the
20th instant, the revolving light will be exhibited as
formerly.
From its former position the lighthouse has been removed
1,170 ft. in a direction S.62°W. The elevation of the light
remains unaltered.
Chart affected : No. 348, “Australia Directory,” Vol. ii.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the
Marine Board, Port Adelaide, is published for general
information.

SPENCER GULF.—PORT PIRIE RIVER.
MASTERS of vessels, pilots, and others are hereby informed
that the Port Pirie Channel, between Nos. 5 and 6 light-
beacons, has been straightened, and that one red buoy has
been removed.
In future one red buoy only will mark the channel between
these beacons. A black buoy has been moored on the east
side to mark the edge of the channel opposite No. 5 light-
beacon.
This affects Admiralty Chart No. 2389B.

information.

SINGAPORE ROAD.—The constr. of the inner S. mole of the
new harb. in Singapore road has been commenced, and the
works at the ern. end are marked by day with a red flag, and
at night with 2 red lts. vert.; and at the wrn. end by day
with a red flag, and at night with 2 green lts. vert. Pilots
and masters of vessels are warned that they are not to pass
between the pts. marked as above, and must anchor clear of
them. Position, Malay Pt., 1° 16½' N., 103° 51' E.
MADURA STRAIT.—Panarukan lt. (7° 41½'S., 113° 56½'E.)
has been altered from F. white to fl. white every 3 secs.—
fl. 1 sec., ecl. 2 secs. Nov.
