INVERCARGILL BOROUGH COUNCIL.
“MOTOR REGULATION ACT, 1908.”—REGISTRATION OF MOTORS.
IN pursuance of the provisions of Part II of “The Motor Regulation Act, 1908,” public notice is hereby given that the Invercargill Borough Council decided, by resolution passed on the 17th day of December, 1908, that the said Act shall be brought into force in the Borough of Invercargill on the 30th day of January, 1909.

OTAMATEA COUNTY.
BY-LAWS.
IN pursuance of the powers vested in them by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and all the amendments thereof, and of all other powers, if any, the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Otamatea do hereby, by special order, make the following amendment in the county by-laws:—
By-law No. 1, regulating traffic on main and county roads, and section 3: The words “exclusive of the load thereon” be substituted for the words “inclusive of the load thereon,” and this by-law shall be amended accordingly.
Also the additional sections be added:—
“No. 10. No person shall take, leave, or drive any horse, engine, agricultural or other machine, or any vehicle, over any bridge of a greater span than ten feet under the control of the Council at other than a walking-pace.”
“No. 12. No person shall, whilst driving a vehicle over any road under the control of the Council, fasten or lock, or permit to be fastened or locked, any wheel of such vehicle so that such fastening or locking may act or serve the purpose of a brake.”
It is intended that these amendments and additional sections to the by-laws shall come into force on the 1st day of January, 1909.
The common seal of the body corporate of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Otamatea was affixed to the foregoing amendment and additional by-laws this 21st day of December, 1908, in the presence of—

The foregoing resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Otamatea County Council held on the 2nd day of November, 1908, and confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the said Council held on the 21st day of December, 1908.

NOTICE OF ALTERATION OF SURNAME.
I, ALEXANDER SMITH, an Officer in the Mercantile Marine, and at present second officer of the steamship “Koromiko,” registered at Dunedin, in the Dominion of New Zealand, and for many years past known as “Alexander Coe-Smith,” hereby give notice that by a deed poll dated the 15th day of December, 1908, and filed in the Supreme Court at Wellington on the 17th day of December, 1908, I formally abandoned the surname of “Smith” and adopted the surname of “Coe-Smith,” and declared my intention thenceforth to use, and subscribe, and be known by, the name of “ALEXANDER COE-SMITH” exclusively.

I, SIR ROBERT STOUT, K.C.M.G., Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the above-named Act, do hereby name His Honour JOSHUA STRANGE WILLIAMS, Esq., and His Honour JOHN EDWARD DENNISTON, Esq., two of the Judges of the said Supreme Court, as the Judges before whom the trial of the ab ve-named petition shall take place.

In the matter of the Companies Act of 1908; and the Patea Steam Brickworks (Limited).
NOTICE is hereby given that at the annual general meeting of the shareholders, held on the 21st day of December, 1908, at the company’s office, the following extraordinary resolution was passed:—
“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of the shareholders that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and it is advisable to wind up the same, and that it be wound up accordingly; and that Mr. Robert Wilberfoss be appointed Liquidator.”

AT an extraordinary general meeting of the above mentioned company, duly convened, and held at Inglewood on the 12th day of December, 1908, the following special resolution was duly passed:—
“That this company, the Moa Farmers’ Union (Limited), be wound up voluntarily, and that the Liquidator be directed to sell the undertaking of the company, with all its assets real and personal, also the goodwill of its business, to Messrs. Benjamin Howard Nicholls and Thomas Clarence Howard Nicholls, the consideration being that the purchasers pay and discharge all the debts and liabilities of the company of whatever kind, except the amount to the credit of the trading capital account, and repay to the shareholders all moneys paid up on their respective shares together with a dividend of 5 per cent. on such share capital, such payment of capital and dividend to be made on the 4th day of January, 1910, and the purchasers shall also pay all the costs of the liquidation.”
And at a subsequent extraordinary general meeting of the said company, also duly convened, and held at the same place on the 31st day of December, 1908, the said special resolution was duly confirmed.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.
WE, the undersigned, carrying on Sheep-farming in the Sounds, known as “Stuart Bros.,” have dissolved Partnership by mutual consent. The farming in the future to be carried on by Lewis Stuart and D. A. Stuart.
