Land temporarily reserved for a Site for a Post-office in the Canterbury Land District.
PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of “The Land Act, 1908,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned: Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in the Canterbury Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for a site for a post-office.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre and 8·6 perches, more or less, being Reserve No. 3778, in red (formerly Sections Nos. 12 and 13), situated in the Culverden Township (Culverden Settlement). Bounded towards the north-east by Section No. 14, Culverden Township (Culverden Settlement); towards the south-east by Sections Nos. 36 and 37 of the said township; towards the south-west by Section No. 11 of the said township; and towards the north-west by the main road: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5908/8, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Opening Town Lands in Canterbury Land District for Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the town lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twelfth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nine, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Situated adjacent to the mouth of the Motunau River, forming a peninsula between the river and the sea-coast. Access is by a good formed road from Scargill Railway-station, a distance of about eleven miles and a half. The sections comprise open undulating land, intersected by terraces and gullies; good soil, on papa formation; most of the area is ploughable, and some of it has been under cultivation. The pasture is tussock and other native and English grasses; the land is well watered, and is situated in the vicinity of fishing-grounds.
The fencing on the sections is not included in the capital value of the land, the previous occupier having the option of removing it. The selector of Sections 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7 will be liable for half the value of fence adjoining the freehold on the north-western boundary.

Opening Lands in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Thursday, the tenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Situated half-way between Woodville and Kumeroa, on the main road. Undulating and broken country; soil of medium quality, on clay formation; all grassed. Indifferently watered during summer months. Elevation, from 350 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.
