Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and nine; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Altitude, from 400 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Broken to undulating country; steep spurs, with flat valleys; about 100 acres in small patches of very light bush, mostly rewarewa and tawhero; some tawa and rata, and a few rimu-trees; light undergrowth of manuka, makomako, wharangi, tawhiri, and whauwhau; balance of section covered with manuka, tutu, koromiko, and fern. Soil light, but of fair quality, on pumice formation. Situated about twelve miles from Matata by dray-road.
HOKIANGA COUNTY.—PUNAKITERE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, from 700 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land, covered with mixed forest, comprising taraire, tawa, kohekohe, and miro, with dense undergrowth of nikau and bush-ferns. Soil of good second-class quality, on sandstone formation. Well watered by streams. Access from Kaihu, twenty-six miles distant—twenty miles formed dray-road and six miles pack-track.

Altitude, from 300 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land, covered with mixed forest, comprising taraire, kohekohe, and miro, with dense undergrowth of nikau and bush-ferns. Soil of good second-class quality, on sandstone formation. Access from Taheke. Distant about eight miles by road good in summer.
WHAKATANE COUNTY.—WAIHI SOUTH SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Broken to undulating land, covered with fern and scrub. Soil of fair quality, but light, on volcanic formation. Well watered. Situated about nine miles from Matata Township by dray-road now being formed.

About 100 acres level, balance undulating; all covered with mixed forest, comprising taraire, kohekohe, miro, and kahikatea; dense undergrowth of nikau and bush ferns; soil of good second-class quality, on sandstone formation; fairly well watered. Situated eight miles from Taheke by formed road.
HOKIANGA COUNTY.—WAIPouA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £92 10s., valuation for about 185,000 superficial feet of green and dry kauri and totara timber, payable in cash or by half-yearly instalments.
Altitude, from 600 ft. to 750 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land; about 40 acres fern, balance mixed forest, comprising kauri, totara, taraire, towai, birch, and rata, with light undergrowth of kiekie, supplejacks, ferns, and toetoe; soil loam and clay, from fair to good in quality, on sandstone formation. Situated about ten miles from Kaihu Railway-station by formed road.
WHANGAREI COUNTY.—RUARANGI PARISH.

Situated about six miles from Mangapai by formed road.
WAIKATO COUNTY.—WHANGAMARINO PARISH.

Practically all level land, covered with fern and scrub, with a few small swamps; soil partly light and partly clay of rather inferior quality, on slate formation; well watered by swamps. Situated about ten miles from Wairangi Railway-station by good cart-road.
