WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll.

I HEREBY give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 11th instant for and against the proposal of the City of Wellington to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908”) the sum of £40,100 for construction of tramway to Wadestown, and interest and charges for first year, and resumption of properties, &c., Thorndon, for approach to such tramway, was as follows: For the proposal, 186; against the proposal, 25.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll.

I hereby give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 11th instant for and against the proposal of the Council of the City of Wellington to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908”) the sum of £22,550 for providing a water-supply to those parts of the City of Wellington which were lately included in the Boroughs of Karori and Onslow (exclusive of the portion of the Borough of Karori defined in the First Schedule of “The Wellington (City) Suburbs Sanitation Act, 1893”) was as follows: For the proposal, 280; against the proposal, 59.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Result of Poll.

I hereby give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 11th instant for and against the proposal of the Council of the City of Wellington to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908”) the sum of £46,000 for the following undertakings—viz., additions to tramway rolling-stock, power-house plant; purchase of Island Bay feeder-cable; erection of Thorndon pay-in office and purchase of land; one annual payment to the Miramar Borough Council on account of the purchase of tramway within city boundary; widening corner of Manners and Cuba Streets; Lyell Bay Tramway extension; purchase of land for car-shed, Kilbirnie, and building thereon; purchase of land at Thorndon, and buildings thereon; street-widening, and electric-lighting station buildings and additions; new turbo set and accessories, purchase of meters, transformers; extension of mains, new connections, and suburban lighting extensions—was as follows: For the proposal, 966; against the proposal, 993.

I therefore declare the proposal to be rejected.

OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

THE following is the result of the poll taken by the Oroua County Council in the Makino Road Special-rating District, No. 25 loan, on the 26th day of January, 1909, on a proposal to borrow £520 for the construction of the several works on Makino Road as advertised in the Feilding Star, giving notice of the intention to raise such loan:—

Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 8; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 0.

As all the votes recorded were in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Invercargill, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

BOROUGH OF INVERCARGILL.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and the amendments thereof; and in the matter of a special loan of £100,000 proposed to be raised by the Council of the Borough of Invercargill under the said Acts.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 3rd day of February, 1909, a proposal was submitted by the above-mentioned Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Invercargill for raising a special loan of £100,000 for and in connection with the constructing, providing, and establishing the public work and engaging in the undertaking and for the purpose mentioned and set forth in the said proposal, which said proposal was published in the Southland Daily News newspaper of the 23rd and 30th days of December, 1908, and the 6th and 13th days of January, 1909; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 192 votes; against the proposal, 698 votes; informal, 10.

And I declare the said proposal to be rejected.

In the matter of “The Counties Act, 1908”; and in the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and of the Acts amending the same respectively; and also in the matter of a proposed special loan of £7,250, under Part II of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” for the purposes of erecting bridge and concrete culverts; and also for grading, widening, and extending metal along the Eltham Road (respectively in and for the benefit of the Mangatoki Riding of the Eltham County), as more fully described by advertisement appearing in the Eltham Argus newspaper of 24th and 31st December, 1908, and 7th and 14th January, 1909.
