ary of Section 218; thence south along the eastern boundary of Section 218; thence west along the southern boundary of Sections 218 and 62 to the waters of the Raglan Harbour; thence following the high-water mark to the point where the parish boundary-line intersects high-water mark at south-west corner of Section 60; thence north along the said parish-line to northern boundary of Block XIII; thence west along the northern boundaries of Blocks XIII and XII to the coast-line; thence following coast-line to point of commencement.

And that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of July and the 1st day of January in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, and the interest to be paid at the rate of 3½ per cent. per annum, or until the loan is fully paid off; and it is the intention to pay out of loan cost of raising same and the first year’s interest.

The above resolution was duly passed as a special order at a special meeting of the Raglan County Council held on the 11th day of January, 1909, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 12th day of February, 1909.

RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.—Matakītaki Special-rating District.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and amendments, the Raglan County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £50, authorised to be raised by the Raglan County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, being an additional amount of 10 per cent. on the original loan of £500 raised by the said Council, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of widening and metalling the Matakītaki cuttings and forming road in the Matakītaki Special-rating District, which sum is not sufficient to complete the work, the expenditure of the said sum of £50 to be devoted to completing the widening and metalling of the Matakītaki cuttings and forming road in the Matakītaki Special-rating District, the said Raglan County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/20d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Matakītaki Special-rating District.

The boundaries of the special-rating district are as follows: Commencing at the north-east corner of Section 92; thence to the south-east corner of same section; thence eastward to the north-east corner of Section 100; thence southward to the south-east corner of same section; thence westward to the south-west corner of Section 95; thence northward to the north-west corner of Section 95; thence eastward to the north-east corner of Section 95; thence north to the north-west corner of Section 94; thence east to the north-east corner of Section 94; thence north to the north-west corner of Section 92; and thence eastward to point of commencement.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE ELLESMERE LANDS DRAINAGE BOARD.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and the Act amending the same.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 19th day of January, 1909, a proposal was submitted by the Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board to the ratepayers of the Ellesmere Lands Drainage District for raising a special loan of £6,000 in two sums of £3,000 in each of two successive years to provide, firstly, for the payment of the amount expended by or the sum that may be found to be due and payable to the Selwyn County Council for drainage-works in the said district; and, secondly, of expending the balance of the loan-moneys in or towards the acquisition by purchase or otherwise of works already constructed, or for the further construction, completion, and maintenance of such works, or for the construction of other works necessary to provide an outlet to the sea of the waters of Lake Ellesmere, and in or towards payment of the first year’s interest on the said loan, survey fees, and cost of raising the said loan and sundries; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 125; against, 16.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

RICCARTON ROAD BOARD.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” and the Acts amending the same.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 4th day of February, 1909, a proposal was submitted by the Riccarton Road Board to the ratepayers of the Riccarton Road District to raise a special loan of £3,100 for expenditure in each of two successive years towards the following purposes: Construction of road-culverts, channelling, regrading and asphalting footpaths and roads in a special area of the said district, being all that block of land situate in the County of Selwyn, being Rural Sections 153 and 153A, as shown on the Government plan of the Canterbury Land District, and for preliminary expenses and contingencies therewith; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 42; against, 14.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

PURSUANT to section 13 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” I beg to advise you that a poll was taken on Thursday, the 11th day of February, 1909, on the proposal of the Sumner Borough Council to raise a loan of £4,000 for public works; and the following was the result of the said poll: For the proposal, 68; against the proposal, 51.

I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.
