one-half of the cost of construction of the bridge mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, and the cost of which said construction of the bridge the Governor by Warrant dated the 2nd day of May, 1908, made pursuant to section 118 of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” directed should be borne as to one-half by the Council of the Levels County, and as to the other half by the Council of the County of Geraldine; (2) providing the sum of £400, being the proportion of the cost of construction of the bridge mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto, which the Governor by Warrant dated the 16th day of June, 1908, made pursuant to section 118 of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” declared should be contributed by the Council of the Levels County—the said Council of the Levels County hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅞d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the county; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-two years, or until such loan is fully paid off.

THE FIRST SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

That bridge over the Opihi River on the Main Road between Temuka and Timaru, and known as Opihi Bridge; as the site of the said bridge is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 9010, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon shown in red colour.

THE SECOND SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.

That bridge over the Opihi River at Hanging Rock, and known as the Opihi Bridge, Hanging Rock; as the said bridge is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 2609, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon shown in red colour.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of such order made by the Council of the County of Levels at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 6th day of January, 1909, and confirmed at a subsequent special meeting of the said Council held on the 6th day of February, 1909.

THE following special order, made by the Rangitikei County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.—Loan of £600, Kawhatau Bridge.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Rangitikei County Council doth hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £600, authorised to be raised by the Rangitikei County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” for the purpose of providing part of the cost of constructing a traffic-bridge over the Kawhatau River on the Potaka Road, the said Rangitikei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅛d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Kawhatau Bridge Special-rating District, comprising Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, Awarua 1a No. 2 East (1,415 acres 3 roods 30 perches), and part Awarua 1a No. 2 West (1,300 acres), all in Block VIII, Hautapu Survey District; and Sections 10, 16, 17, and 17A, in Block IX, Ruahine Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable in one sum on the 1st day of May in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the interest on such loan being at the rate of 3½ per cent. per annum.

I, Robert Kirkpatrick Simpson, Chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Rangitikei County Council held on the 28th day of December, 1908, and was duly confirmed at a special meeting of the said Rangitikei County Council held on the 30th day of January, 1909.

In testimony whereof the common seal of the Rangitikei County Council has been hereunto affixed.

Special Order making Special Rate.—Loan of £630, metalling on Brandon Hall Road.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1908,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Rangitikei County Council doth hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £630, authorised to be raised by the Rangitikei County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” for the purpose of completing the metalling of the unmetalled portions of the Brandon Hall Road from the end of present metal near Mr. McKenzie’s woolshed to a point a little west of the boundary between Sections 6 and 8, being a distance of about 190 chains of metalling, the said Rangitikei County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅛d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Brandon Hall No. 2 Special-rating District, comprising parts of Section 2 (120 acres and 116 acres 2 roods 8 perches), parts of Sections 5 and 5A (together 310 acres 2 roods 11 perches), and part Section 6 (540 acres) and Sections 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 of the Brandon Hall Estate, as shown on plans numbered 1754 and 1755, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar, at Wellington, the said lands being situate in Blocks IV and V, Koitiatā Survey District, and Blocks V, IX, and X, Rangitoto Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable in one sum on the 1st day of May in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the interest on such loan being at the rate of 3½ per cent. per annum.

I, Robert Kirkpatrick Simpson, Chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Rangitikei County Council held on the 28th day of December, 1908, and was duly confirmed at a special meeting of the said Rangitikei County Council held on the 30th day of January, 1909.
