Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary, in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and ten; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1908.”

Altitude, 200 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. Broken land, nearly all covered with fern and manuka; 45 acres formerly in forest, greater part of which has been burnt and grown up in fern. Soil, a good clay and loam on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated about seven miles from Whakapara Post-office by formed track.
HOKIANGA COUNTY.—TUTAMOE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 500 ft. to 1,300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land; level patches near road and streams; all covered with mixed forest, comprising rimu, tawai, tawa, miro, mahoe, and rata; heavy undergrowth of kiekie, supplejack, and ferns. Soil loam and clay, mostly of fair quality; small patches good; on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated about twenty miles from Kaihu Railway-station by formed road.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. 60 acres in Section 27, 35 acres in Section 28, 25 acres in Section 29, and 30 acres in Section 30 swamp land of good quality when drained; balance of sections undulating to hilly land, covered with fern and scrub. Soil, fair to inferior clay land on sandstone formation; watered by springs and swamp. Situated from four to five miles from Towai Railway-station by formed road, except the last 20 chains, as yet unformed.

Bush land, with fair soil. The timber in some cases is heavy, but each section contains areas of bush that can be felled easily. The timber consists of birch, rimu, matai, kowhai, broadleaf, &c. Sections south of the McLennan River have a northerly aspect, and those north of the river a southerly aspect. There is a school on Section 16, and a post-office and telephone-office on Section 1, Block XV. The Catlin’s Railway extension, now in course of construction, skirts the eastern boundary of the block.
