that section and of Section 986 to the south-east corner of
the latter section; thence, keeping about 30 chains distance
from the northern boundary of Crown land, proceeding in a
direction about north-east a distance of about 90 chains to
Vine Creek, thence a further distance of about 100 chains
to Murray Creek, and thence a further distance of about
50 chains to the westernmost corner of Run No. 9; thence
by the western boundary of Run No. 9 to its southern-
most point upon Toaroa Stream; thence by the middle of
the Bannatyne Stream and onwards to the Toaroa Saddle;
thence by the upper edge of the bush-line round the head of
the River Mungo, and again by the upper edge of the bush-
line in a westerly direction to the Hokitika River; thence
crossing the Hokitika River, and continuing westward along
the upper edge of the bush-line and through the bush to Meta
Saddle; thence along the upper edge of the bush-line along
the northern flank of the Meta Range to the northernmost
point of the open; thence in a direction about south-west
across the Whitcombe River, a distance of about two miles,
to the upper edge of the bush-line at the north-east flank of
Mount Browne; thence following the upper edge of the
bush-line to the northernmost point of the bush-line on
Mount Miserable; thence by the summit of the ridge in a
general direction of north-east over Mount Misery to the
starting-point: excepting always all mining and other claims
and rights within or affecting the said area.
Run No. 12: On Mikonui River; area, 3,580 (net) acres-
namely, 700 acres of Crown land, and 2,880 acres of national
endowment land. Situated in Westland County and Totara
Survey District, starting from a point 40 chains due south-
west of Trig. E.Q.; thence running in a south-easterly
direction generally parallel to and 40 chains distant from
the foot of the hill along the River Mikonui to Esbister
Creek, and then in a southerly direction down the middle
of Esbister Creek and Sabot Creek to Trig. D.M. at edge of
river; thence due west across river to Section 2844; thence
round the northern and western sides of said section to its
southernmost corner; thence for 45 chains south-westerly
in prolongation of the south-eastern boundary of said sec-
tion; thence generally in a north-westerly direction, keeping
40 chains distant from the foot of the hills on the south side
of the Mikonui River, to a point in Bullock Creek; thence
about north-east 95 chains to the starting-point: excepting
always all mining and other rights and claims within or at
any time affecting the said area, and excluding an area of
120 acres within the above boundaries.
Runs Nos. 25 and 448 (conjoined): Arawata River and
Mount Watney; area, 45,650 acres. All Crown land, situ-
ated in Arawata and Jackson Survey Districts, County of
Westland, bounded as follows: Starting at Trig. T.F. at
the confluence of Jackson and Arawata Rivers, proceeding
thence in a direction generally south-east for a distance of
50 chains and crossing the River Arawata, near Tuning
Fork Creek; thence in a direction about E.N.E. for a dis-
tance of about 280 chains to a point on the western bound-
ary of Run No. 24, being about 60 chains south of Lake
Nisson; thence along the boundary of Run No. 24 in a
direction generally S.E. for a distance of about half a mile
to a point about 20 chains below the upper edge of the bush-
line on Mount Watney; thence continuing, still along the
said boundary and keeping still at the said distance below
the bush-line, in general directions at first N.E., then S.E.,
and then S.W., and so rounding the N.W. corner of the
aforesaid mountain and reaching the S.E. corner of Run
No. 448, a distance of about six miles, and continuing thence
in the general direction of S.W. and located similarly below
the bush-line a distance along the western boundary of Run
No. 24 of about 280 chains to the N.W. corner of Run
No. 476, and continuing, still at the same distance below the
bush-line, along the western boundary of the last-named
run to its S.W. corner; thence continuing, similarly located
below the bush-line, for a distance of about 300 chains;
thence striking through the bush in a general direction of
S.W. for a distance of about 200 chains to the foot of the
leading spurs on the north side of the Waipara Stream, and
thence turning sharply in a direction generally N.W. and
crossing the Arawata River at its confluence with the Wai-
para, and proceeding for a distance of 130 chains; thence in
a direction generally N. by E. obliquely across the face of
the spurs a distance of about three miles and a half to
Thomson's Creek, and crossing that creek at traverse peg xvi
about two miles from its confluence with the Arawata, and
thence crossing over to the western slopes of Thomson Range,
following generally the upper edge of the bush-line past
Lake Clarke and onwards generally in a direction N.N.E. to
the northernmost end of the open; thence in a direction
generally N.E. for a distance of 140 chains to the north bank
of the Jackson River; and thence in a direction about east
to Trig. T.F., the starting-point: excluding from the above
area Section 2236 and an area of 137 acres on Jackson's
Flat, both reserved from present disposal, and excepting
always all mining and other rights and claims within or at
any time affecting the said area.
CLASS B. - PASTORAL-AGRICULTURAL LANDS, being Lands
adapted in Part for Pasturage and in Part for Agricultural
Purposes, but suitable for Subdivision in Areas not exceed-
ing Five Thousand Acres.
Run No. 3: Taramakau River; area, 11,700 acres-namely,
8,000 acres of Crown land, and 3,700 acres of national endow-
ment land. Situated on north bank of Taramakau River, in
Grey County, and in Survey Districts of Waimea, Hohonu, and
Turiwhate, and bounded as follows: Starting at a point on the
right bank of the River Taramakau at Hayes Terrace, and
proceeding generally eastward and south-easterly along the
ridge between Eringobragh Water-race and Dobson's Creek
Water-race, crossing Three-mile Creek, and continuing
onwards to the Greenstone-Taramakau Road; proceeding
thence to Revell Terrace; thence following the ridge to the
boundary of Run No. 82; thence marching with Run
No. 82 past Mount Smart and the head-waters of Smart
Creek and onwards to Mount Bruce in a direction generally
south-east and for a distance of about five miles, keeping
always 20 chains below the upper edge of the bush-line;
thence turning to the north-east and proceeding about two
miles, maintaining the same distance below the bush-line,
to the head of May Creek; thence running south-east to
the north-west corner of Scenic Reserve 919; thence by the
western boundaries of the said reserve to the River Tara-
makau; thence proceeding down the right bank of that river
to Section 2205, and there turning and following the eastern,
northern, and western boundaries of said section round
again to the Taramakau River; thence proceeding down the
right bank of that river to the south-east corner of Sec-
tion 2381; thence going round the east boundary of that
section; thence round the northern boundary of the same
and of the Taramakau Settlement, and so again coming out
upon the Taramakau River about the confluence of Dobson
Creek at the westermost corner of Section 2351, and
proceeding thence in a direction generally north-westerly
along the right bank of the River Taramakau to the starting-
point: excluding nevertheless two several areas of resumed
land-namely, 450 acres at Smart Creek, and 250 acres
behind Sections 2352 and 2354, and also behind the sections
intervening between the said numbered sections-and except-
ing always all mining and other claims and rights within or
at any time affecting the said area.
Runs Nos. 58 and 349 (conjoined): Evans Creek and
Mount Bonar; area, 9,180 acres. All Crown lands, situated
at Evans Creek, in the County of Westland, and in the
Survey Districts of Waitaha and Mount Bonar, bounded as
follows: Starting from the road at Trig. D.U., near Lake
Ianthe, running thence south-east about 60 chains to the
boundary of Run No. 349; thence along the northern bound-
ary of that run generally east for a distance of about three
miles up to and crossing Mount Bonar Range, and onwards
still to a point 20 chains below the upper edge of the bush
upon the eastern side of the range; thence following round
the eastern side of Mount Bonar Range, keeping still parallel
with the upper edge of the bush-line, and proceeding in a
direction generally southwards to Evans Pass; and thence
proceeding by the most direct leading spurs and striking
across Douglas Creek to a point 20 chains below the bush-
line on the north-east corner of Mount Ashmore Ridge;
thence, still keeping 20 chains below the upper edge of the
bush-line, proceeding generally in a south-west direction for
about 300 chains to a point due south of the south-east
corner of Reserve 363A, and thence turning directly north
and running 40 chains exactly to the said corner; thence
round the eastern sides generally of Reserves 363A and of
Sections 2349, 2348, and 2346, and joining the Main South
Road at the north-west corner of Section 2346, and thence
proceeding generally north-westerly along the eastern side
of the Main Road to Reserve 363, and thence around the
south and eastern sides of the said reserve to its north-east
corner; thence generally northwards directly to the starting-
point: excepting always all mining and other rights and
claims within or at any time affecting the said area.
