Varied Notice fixing Closing-hours of Shops wherein Groceries are sold in the Borough of Petone under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops wherein groceries are sold in the Borough of Petone, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the hours for closing for all such shops in the said borough shall be 9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; 1 p.m. on Wednesdays; and 10 p.m. on Saturdays, excepting on the day before Christmas Day and New Year’s Day: And whereas the Petone Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the Borough of Petone wherein groceries are sold: Now, therefore, I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1908,” do hereby direct that, from and after the 13th day of December, 1909, all such shops in the Borough of Petone shall be closed in accordance with such requisition. The notice dated the 20th day of May, 1909, is hereby varied accordingly.

Removal of Order forbidding Money-order and Postal Correspondence for the “Kookaburra” Newspaper Company, Sydney.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, being satisfied that the company whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is no longer engaged in advertising the treatment of diseases of the sexual organs, hereby rescinds the order made, under section 28 of “The Post and Telegraph Act, 1908,” on the 11th day of May, 1909, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 13th day of May, 1909, forbidding that any money-order for such company shall be issued, and that any postal packet addressed to such company shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered, by the Post Office of New Zealand, and orders that such money-orders shall be issued, and that such postal packets shall be registered, forwarded, and delivered, in the usual course.

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced in New Zealand.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 1st June, 1909.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the production of mineral oil under the following conditions:—

  1. A bonus of 3d. per gallon (£6,250) will be paid on the first 500,000 gallons of mineral oil produced in the Dominion of New Zealand. The mineral oil in the refined state to have a specific gravity of 0·814 to 0·830, and a flash point of not less than 83° Fahr. by the Abel closed test.
  2. Notice of intention to claim the aforesaid bonus must be given in writing to the Minister of Mines not later than 31st March, 1912.
  3. The claim must be made before 31st March, 1913.
  4. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.
  5. All conditions as to quantity, quality, priority, and value to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.

NOTICE is hereby given that His Excellency the Governor has exempted from the operation of subsection (1) of section 17 of “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908,” the slaughterhouse situated on Tawhiti Road, Hawera, Subdivision 2, part Section 176, Patea District, Block VI, Hawera Survey District, and used by the Hawera Bacon Company (Limited) in connection with the curing of bacon and hams.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Surveyors’ Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors’ Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for licenses to survey, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 7th March, 1910, at the Dominion Museum, Wellington.

Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board at least thirty days before the date of the examination, and that the examination fee of £1 1s. must be paid at least seven days before the date of the examination to the Secretary of the Board, from whom examination regulations, application forms, and other particulars may be obtained.
