BOROUGH OF FEILDING.

Special Order.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” the Council of the Borough of Feilding hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £900, authorised to be raised by the Council of the Borough of Feilding, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of paying off the special loan of £900 which became due on the 1st day of October, 1908, the said Council of the Borough of Feilding hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Feilding, comprising the area within the following boundaries—namely, all that area in the Land District of Wellington bounded towards the north generally by Section No. 184, Block XIV, Oroua Survey District, from its south-western corner to the Railway Reserve; thence by the production of the southern boundary-line of the said Section No. 184 to the eastern side of the Makino Road to the south-western corner of Section No. 162; thence by Sections Nos. 162, 173, 174, 175, 176, and 177 to Reid’s Road Line; thence by the production of the eastern boundary-line of the last-named section to the north eastern side of the said Reid’s Road Line; thence by the north-eastern side of that road-line to the south-eastern side of Kimbolton Road; thence towards the east generally by the south-eastern side of the said Kimbolton Road to the Kiwitea Stream; thence by the left bank of the said Kiwitea Stream to the confluence of the said Kiwitea Stream with the Oroua River; thence by the said Oroua River to the Railway Reserve; thence towards the south generally by the said Railway Reserve to South Street; thence by the south side of South Street to Awahuri Road; thence by the east side of Awahuri Road to a point in line with the southern boundary-line of Section No. 85, Block XIV aforesaid; thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of that section; thence by the southern boundary-line of the said Section No. 85 for a distance of 796 links; thence towards the west generally by a right line bearing 345° 11’ (magnetic) to the road forming the northern boundary of Section No. 132; thence by that road to the north-eastern corner of the said Section No. 132; thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 130, Block XIV aforesaid; and thence by the said Section No. 130 to the south-western corner of Section No. 184 aforesaid, the place of commencement: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan is fully paid off, but in lieu of the Council of the said borough collecting such special rate, the amount required to meet the half-yearly payments of interest on said loan shall be paid half-yearly out of the said Council’s General Fund.

The above special order was duly passed and adopted at a special meeting of the Council held on the 2nd day of November, 1908, and confirmed at a meeting of the Council held on the 3rd day of December, 1908.

NEW PLYMOUTH HARBOUR BOARD.

In the matter of “The New Plymouth Harbour Board Empowering Act, 1908.”

PROPOSAL to borrow £300,000 for the purposes defined in the above-mentioned Act:—

The following are the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal at a poll held and taken on Monday, the 16th day of November, 1908: For the proposal, 4,617 votes; against the proposal, 646 votes.

I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF NORTH-EAST VALLEY.

Special Water Loan.

I HEREBY give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of a defined portion of the borough was held on the 18th November, 1908, upon the following proposal, that is to say: Borrow the sum of £17,500 at a rate of interest not exceeding 4½ per cent. per annum for a term of thirty-three years. The security for the loan to be a sinking fund of 1 per cent. per annum; also, for the purpose of providing interest and sinking fund, to make an annual-recurring special rate of 9d. in the pound, and to levy the same equally on all rateable properties being within such defined portion of the borough, such annual-recurring rate to be calculated on the annual rateable value of such properties; and that an annual-recurring water-supply rate be made in accordance with section 102 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900”—

(1.) Upon all lands and buildings to which water is supplied: When the annual rateable value does not exceed £12 10s. per annum the rate shall be 10s. per annum.

(2.) When the value exceeds £12 10s. per annum the water rate shall not exceed 3 per cent. per annum on the annual values.

(3.) Upon all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is not supplied, situated within 100 yards from any part of the waterworks, the rate shall not exceed 1½ per cent. on the annual values.

  1. The particular undertaking proposed to be engaged in is a water-supply to a defined portion of the borough.

  2. The sum proposed to be borrowed is £17,500.

  3. The proposed security and the provision for repayment of the loan is a sinking fund of 1 per cent. per annum of the amount of the said loan.

  4. It is not proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan or the interest for the first year.

The following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 242 votes; against the proposal, 210 votes.

As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal is greater than the number of votes recorded against the proposal, I declare the proposal carried.

BOROUGH OF FEILDING.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that at the poll taken this day, upon the proposal of the Council of the Borough of Feilding to raise a special loan of £4,000 for repairing damage to town’s water-supply, the following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 45 votes; against the proposal, 17 votes; informal, 1 vote.

As the number of votes recorded for the proposal exceeds the number of votes recorded against the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal carried.
