Volunteer Regulations amended.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Defence Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke and amend, in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto, such of the General Regulations of the Defence Forces of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date (including all amendments of such General Regulations made prior to the date hereof), as are set forth in the said Schedule. And I do hereby declare that such revocations shall take effect, and such amendments and substituted regulations shall come into force, on the fourth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

SCHEDULE.

  1. REGULATION 413 is hereby revoked, and the following regulation substituted in lieu thereof:—

Field Artillery Volunteers.

Regulation 413. All non-commissioned officers and men who pass a qualifying examination as under will be classified and awarded proficiency badges, certificates, and personal payments of £1 per annum:—

Subject. Minimum Marks. Classification. Award.
Gunnery 75 First-class gunner.. Certificate, badge, and £1.
Driving 75 First-class driver .. Ditto.
Gun-laying As laid down from time to time in “Instructions for Practice” Qualified gun-layer "
Signalling Ditto .. Qualified signaller.. "
Range-finding " .. Qualified range-taker "

Non-commissioned officers must obtain 80 per cent. in order to qualify for certificate, badge, and payment.

No non-commissioned officer or man will be eligible for certificates, badges, or personal payments in more than two subjects.

The conditions for examination will be as laid down in “Instructions for Practice.”

  1. Regulation 414 is hereby revoked, and the following regulation substituted in lieu thereof:—

Garrison Artillery Volunteers.

Regulation 414. All non-commissioned officers and men who pass a qualifying examination as under will be classified and awarded proficiency badges, certificates, and personal payments of £1 per annum:—

Subject. Minimum Marks. Classification. Award.
Gunnery 75 First-class gunner.. Certificate, badge, and £1.
Signalling As laid down from time to time in “Instructions for Practice” Qualified signaller.. Ditto.
Gun-laying Ditto .. Qualified gun-layer "
Range-finding " .. Qualified D.R.F. specialist "
Electric lighting 75 Qualified electrician "
Engine-driving .. 75 Qualified engine-driver "
