Regulation 325 is hereby amended by adding the words “The provision for leave of absence shall not apply to mounted rifles.”
Regulation 337 as remade on the 7th May, 1907, is hereby amended by making the following addition thereto:—
“This regulation shall also apply to cadet corps which may be formed into divisions, regiments, or battalions. In such cases the amount to be deducted shall be half the amount of capitation payable to each efficient officer or cadet per annum.”
Regulation 366 is hereby amended by adding the words “whole and continuous” after the word “seven” on second line.
Regulation 389 is hereby amended by adding the words “and horses of Staff Sergeants-Major Instructors.”
Regulation 405 is hereby revoked, and the following regulation substituted in lieu thereof:—
“405. Personal payments shall be made and certificates and badges shall be issued to Volunteers as hereinafter provided.”
Regulation 418 as amended on the 24th August, 1907, is hereby further amended by omitting the words “the four most proficient in each company.”
Regulation 419 as amended on the 4th day of April, 1908, is hereby further amended by adding the words “in Field Ambulance duties” after the word “men.”
Regulation 460 is hereby revoked.
Regulation 473 and all amendments thereto are hereby revoked, and the following substituted in lieu thereof:—
“New Zealand Long and Efficient Service Medal.
“Regulation 473. (i.) Officers of the Permanent Force, officers, non-commissioned officers, and men of the Permanent Staff, and all members of the Volunteer Force who have served efficiently for twenty years, which service need not necessarily be continuous, or those who have served continuously for sixteen years as efficient, are entitled to the New Zealand Long and Efficient Service Medal.
“(ii.) Officers of Defence cadet companies who hold substantive commissions will be allowed to count the whole of their efficient cadet service towards qualifying for the New Zealand Long and Efficient Service Medal; in other cases, officers and members will be allowed to count one-half of their efficient cadet service as qualifying service.
“(iii.) Efficient service in Reserve Corps formed under Regulation 540A, and Reserves to Corps under Regulation 540B, will be allowed to count as one-half the required qualifying service.
“(iv.) In exceptional cases, where a break not exceeding one year occurs in the service of an applicant for the medal, the decision as to the validity or otherwise of a claim for the medal shall be given by the Defence Minister, and shall be final.
“(v.) Officers and men who are subsequently awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration or Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal respectively shall not be required to surrender the New Zealand Long and Efficient Service Medal, but shall not be permitted to wear both.”
Regulation 514. Paragraphs (i), (ii), and (iii), and also paragraph (iv) of the amendment of Regulation 3, (h), cadets, made on the 9th March, 1908, are hereby revoked.
The following new regulation is hereby added after Regulation 514:—
“514A. Officers of Defence cadet corps who have obtained substantive commissions will be paid capitation at the same rate as adult Volunteers.”
Regulation 520 as remade on 14th November, 1907, is hereby revoked.
Regulation 582 is hereby amended by omitting the words “Captain two stars, Lieutenant one star,” and the following is substituted therefore, “Captain three stars, Lieutenant two stars, Lieutenant (Acting) one star.”
