GERALDINE COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.
In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the several Acts amending the same respectively.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 17th day of January, 1908, a proposal was submitted by the Geraldine County Council to the ratepayers whose properties are within the Hanging Rock Bridge District for raising a loan of £1,000 for the construction of a bridge over the Ophi River at Hanging Rock for the benefit of that part of the County of Geraldine; and that the number of valid votes recorded at the poll of the ratepayers of that portion of the County of Geraldine was as follows: For the proposal, 29 votes; against the proposal, no votes.
As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal is in excess of three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I, John Talbot, County Chairman, do hereby declare the proposal carried.

BOROUGH OF CARTERTON.
In pursuance of the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” notice is hereby given that a poll was taken on Thursday, the 30th day of January, 1908, on the proposal to borrow £4,500 for the purpose of improving High Street, Belvedere Street, Park Road, Holloway (late Library) Street, Tyne Street, Dixon Street, Kent Street, Rutland Road, Brooklyn Road, and Lincoln Road.
Number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 64; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 61; number of informal votes, 1.
I accordingly declare the proposal duly carried.

I, Willie Moore, of Carterton, in the Provincial District of Wellington and Dominion of New Zealand, Merchant, and Mayor of the Borough of Carterton, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the electors to the proposal to borrow £4,500 for the purpose of improving High Street, Belvedere Street, Park Road, Holloway (late Library) Street, Tyne Street, Dixon Street, Kent Street, Rutland Road, Brooklyn Road, and Lincoln Road have been duly taken, and that the proposal has been duly carried; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true; and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

The Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Cromwell.
PROPOSAL to raise a special loan, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” upon which a poll was taken on Thursday, the 23rd day of January, 1908, at the Council Chambers, Cromwell.

The particular undertaking proposed to be engaged in: The purchase of the water-race belonging to the Cromwell District Hospital Contributors, and the construction of waterworks in connection therewith to bring in the water to supply the borough with an extra supply of water.

The sum proposed to be borrowed: £3,000.

The proposed security and provisions for repayment of the loan: (a) A special rate on all the rateable property of the borough of 9d. in the pound; (b) a loan, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, from the Government at £4 per centum per annum, extinguishable in thirty-two years.

It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest on the loan.
Votes recorded for the above proposal, 109; votes recorded against the above proposal, 3; informal, 1; majority in favour, 106.
I declare the above proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Napier, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF NAPIER.
In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts amending the same respectively.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 29th day of January, 1908, a proposal was submitted by the Napier Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Napier for raising a special loan of £6,000 for the erection and proper equipment of public salt-water swimming-baths on the Marine Parade, Napier; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 252; against, 227.
And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

MACKENZIE COUNTY COUNCIL.
Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Mackenzie County, duly taken upon the 29th day of January, 1908, upon the proposal of the Mackenzie County Council to borrow, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the sum of £550 for the erection of a bridge over the Rocky Gully Stream, the number of votes recorded for and against the said proposal was as follows, that is to say:—
For the proposal, 111; against the proposal, 7; informal, 1. The total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the proposal duly carried.
