BOROUGH OF GERALDINE.

I, THOMAS JAMES MALING, Mayor of the Borough of Geraldine, do hereby give notice that at the poll of ratepayers held on the 27th day of January, 1908, the number of votes recorded for and against the proposal to raise a loan for the purpose of lighting the roads, streets, and public places of the borough with the acetylene gas, and the supply of such gas to the inhabitants thereof, was as follows: For the proposal, 35 votes; against the proposal, 19 votes.

And accordingly I do hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts amending the same respectively.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 22nd day of January, 1908, a proposal was submitted by the Picton Borough Council for raising a special loan of £4,000 for the purpose of increasing the borough water-supply, and the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 85, against, 27; informal, 1.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 22nd day of January, 1908, a proposal was submitted by the Picton Borough Council to the ratepayers within the special area herein-after mentioned to raise a special loan of £2,500 for the purpose of the drainage of High Street, parts of Wellington, Dublin, Taranaki, Russell, Otago, Broadway, and Auckland Streets; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 37; against, 18; informal, 1.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Result of Poll of Proposed Loan.

I HEREBY notify that the following is the result of the poll of ratepayers taken on the 1st day of February, 1908, on a proposal to raise a loan of £800 for the reconstruction and re-erection of the Pohangina Bridge and approach thereto:—

Total number of votes recorded, 74; for the proposal, 74; against the proposal, 0; informal, 3.

The total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal being more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded, I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

GONVILLE TOWN BOARD.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments; and in the matter of a proposal to raise (by way of special loan) the sum of £7,000 for the purposes of providing a water-supply, establishing a drainage system, and for general improvements to the roads and streets in the Gonville Town District.

NOTICE is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the Town Board of Gonville was taken on the 27th day of January, 1908, in the matter of the above proposals, and resulted as follows:—

Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 92; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 29; informal votes, nil.

As the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

COUNTY OF AMURI.

Result of Poll.

In the matter of “The Counties Act, 1886,” and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts amending the same respectively.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 25th day of January, 1908, a proposal was submitted by the Amuri County Council to the ratepayers of the County of Amuri for raising a special loan of £10,000 for the purpose of carrying out the following works:—

(a.) The formation, construction, and metalling of various roads within the County of Amuri, and culverts .. .. .. £6,745
(b.) The construction of bridges and approaches thereto and of storm-water drain .. .. 2,335
(c.) First year’s interest, surveys, costs of raising loan, and sundries .. .. 920

£10,000

And that the numbers of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal were as follows: For the proposal, 147; against the proposal, 26.

And as the total number of votes recorded for the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of votes recorded at the poll, I declare the said proposal to be carried.
