Section 1, about 248 acres swamp; Section 4, about 150 acres swamp; Section 5, about 310 acres swamp; Section 6, about 204 acres swamp. The wiwi swamp on these sections is from fair to inferior in quality, on a peaty bottom. The dry land is of inferior quality, clay soil, and practically all ploughable. The sections are all undulating, and covered with stunted manuka and scrub.

Section 1, about 466 acres wiwi swamp; Section 3, about 190 acres wiwi swamp. The swamp is of inferior quality, on peaty bottom, rather difficult to drain. The dry land is nearly all undulating and ploughable, but of inferior clayey nature. Vegetation, stunted manuka and scrub.

The areas of swamp on these sections are as follows: Section 6, 110 acres; Section 8, 170 acres; Section 9, 80 acres; Section 10, 190 acres; Section 12, 175 acres; Section 14, 100 acres; Section 16, 210 acres (half of this area is good raupo swamp). The wiwi swamp is from fair to inferior in quality, on peaty bottom; if drained, will largely grow flax. The dry land is undulating, with inferior clay soil, and can be practically all ploughed. The vegetation is stunted manuka and scrub.

About 15 acres wiwi swamp, and 335 acres dry land of inferior quality, practically all ploughable, covered with stunted manuka and scrub.

The areas of wiwi swamp on these sections are as follows: Section 3, about 140 acres; Section 4, 146 acres; Section 5, 133 acres; Section 6, 154 acres; Section 7, 77 acres. Balance of sections more or less undulating spurs and ridges of inferior clay quality, but almost wholly ploughable. The swamps are from fair to inferior in quality, and should prove profitable if drained. The dry land is covered with stunted manuka and tauhinau.

The areas of raupo and wiwi swamp on these sections are as follows: Section 10, about 65 acres; Section 11, 32 acres; Section 12, 50 acres; Section 13, 154 acres; Section 14, 200 acres; Section 15, 57 acres. The swamp generally is good raupo and wiwi, which could be drained and brought into cultivation. The dry land is of inferior clay quality and mostly undulating, covered with stunted manuka and scrub; land very largely ploughable; water obtainable by shallow sinking.

Practically all dry land, except about 45 acres good raupo swamp on Section 1, Block XIV; undulating to slightly steep spurs and ridges, covered with stunted manuka and scrub; clay soil of inferior quality. Sections are largely ploughable.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

This block is situated on the western side of the Waikato River, and is reached by ferries at Huntly and Churchill, the latter being about four miles from Rangiriri Railway-station. The sections are distant from four to thirteen miles from Huntly and from five to fifteen miles from Churchill.
