Opening Settlement Land in Hawke’s Bay Land District for Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” and “The Land for Settlements Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the eighth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

*Interest and sinking fund on buildings valued at £70, payable in cash or in ten years by half-yearly instalments of £4 10s. 8d. Total half-yearly payment, £11 7s. 11d.

Flat agricultural land of good quality at an altitude of about 35 ft. above sea-level. All in English grass. Situated on the Pakowhai Road, about nine miles and three-quarters from Gisborne. The improvements which go with the section consist of about 38 chains of fencing and some gum-trees, valued at £20. The improvements which are not included in the price of the section, but must be paid for separately by the tenant, consist of a five-roomed cottage, valued at £70.

Accessible by foot-bridge; about one mile from Waipawa Post-office and railway-station, and by metalled road and traffic-bridge two miles and a quarter. The improvements which go with the land are as follows: Section 25, half-value 20 chains fencing, £5; Section 26, half-value 12½ chains fencing, £3 2s. 6d.

Hatumā Settlement is situated forty-eight miles from Napier and four miles from Waipukurau. It is intersected by the Wellington-Napier Railway, and adjoins Hatuma Railway-station. Undulating agricultural land; limestone formation; good soil. The whole area is under grass. Most of the sections are watered, while on others water will probably be obtained by sinking. There is a post-office, store, and school on the settlement. The improvements which go with the land consist of fencing, valued as follows: Section 21, £11 2s. 6d.; Section 22, £84; Section 23, £1 15s.; Section 24, £3 14s.; Section 25, £2 0s. 6d.; Section 26, £1 16s.; Section 28, £1 1s. 3d.; Section 30, £1; Section 31, £1; Section 32, 12s. 6d.; Section 33, £7 6s. 3d.; Section 34, £19 6s. 9d.; Section 35, £5 7s. 3d.; Section 37, £4 15s.; Section 39, £6 5s. The improvements not included in capital value and which must be paid for separately by the tenant consist of a cowshed and yard on Section 37, valued at £3.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1908,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on Monday, the twenty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable
