powers and authorities enabling it in that behalf, doth hereby resolve by special order: That, for the purpose of providing interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a special loan of £100,000, authorised to be raised, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of providing a system of drainage for that part of the City of Wellington known as the Melrose District (exclusive of the portion thereof described in the First Schedule to “The Wellington (City) Suburbs Sanitation Act, 1893”), and for constructing private drains and house-connections in such districts on the deferred-payment system, the Wellington City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1d. in the pound on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property within that part of the City of Wellington known as the Melrose District, the boundaries of which are set forth in the Schedule hereto; such rate to be an annual-recurring rate, payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years from the 1st day of January, 1908, or until the loan is fully paid off.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Provincial District of Wellington of which the boundaries begin at the north-west corner of Section No. 28, Block VI, Port Nicholson Survey District, and which is bounded towards the west and north by Sections Nos. 29 and 32, Block VI; and towards the west by the eastern boundary-line of the Waterworks Reserve running through Section No. 1, Block VI, and by Sections Nos. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 70, and 38, Block X, and by Section No. 37, Block XIII, Port Nicholson Survey District, to Cook Strait; thence towards the south generally by Cook Strait and Lyell Bay to the western boundary-line of Section No. 13, Block XI, Port Nicholson Survey District, and by Section No. 13, Block XI, Port Nicholson Survey District, and by the northern boundary of Section No. 8, Block XI, to its intersection with the production of the western boundary-line of Allotment No. 19, as shown on a plan marked L. and S. 55530, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey at Wellington; thence by the said production and by the said western boundary-line of the said Allotment No. 19 and by Allotments Nos. 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4A, 4, 3, 2, 1, and 45 on the said plan L. and S. 55530 to the northern end of the said Allotment No. 45; thence across a road running along the shore of Evans Bay to high-water mark; thence by the waters of Port Nicholson to the north-eastern corner of the City of Wellington as it existed prior to the 1st day of April, 1903; thence towards the west and north and east and north by the City of Wellington as aforesaid to the starting-point: excepting thereout all the lands described in the First Schedule to “The Wellington (City) Suburbs Sanitation Act, 1893,” comprising—

  1. “The Mitchelltown Block,” therein described, situate Sections 10 and 28, Ohio District, in the Borough of Melrose, containing an area of 21 acres 3 roods 7 perches.
  2. “Tinakori Watershed,” therein described, comprising (1) an area of 17 acres and 17 perches, being parts of Sections 28 and 29, Karori, and part Sections 1 to 12 inclusive, Orangi-Kaupapa Native Reserve; (2) an area of 8 acres and 24 perches, more or less, being other part of Section 28, Karori.
  3. “The Upland Farm Block No. 2,” therein described, comprising (1) other part of Section 28, Karori, containing an area of 1 acre 1 rood 22 perches; (2) other part of Section 28, Karori, containing an area of 1 rood 18 perches.
  4. “Section 11, Ohio Block,” therein described, comprising an area of 1 rood 26 perches, comprising part of Section 11, Ohio.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly adopted at a special meeting of the Wellington City Council held on the 5th day of December, 1907, and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 16th day of January, 1908.

THE following special order, made by the Wellington City Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

Cemetery Loan Repayment Loan, 1907, of £6,000.

WHEREAS the sum of £7,500, borrowed by the Wellington City Corporation for cemetery purposes, is due and payable on the 20th day of December, 1907: And whereas the sinking funds in respect to the said loan amount only to £1,500, and the sum of £6,000 is required to pay off the said loan: Now, therefore, the Wellington City Council doth hereby, in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and their respective amendments, and in exercise of all other powers enabling it or vested in it in that behalf, resolve by special order,—
First, to borrow the said sum of £6,000, repayable on the 20th day of December, 1932, or such other earlier date as may be determined by the Council.
Secondly, that, for the purpose of providing interest, sinking fund, and other charges on the said loan of £6,000, authorised to be raised, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and their respective amendments, and in exercise of all other powers enabling it or vested in it in that behalf, the Wellington City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/100d. in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) on all rateable property in that part of the City of Wellington as it was bounded prior to the incorporation therein of the Borough of Melrose, the boundaries of which are set forth in the Schedule to this resolution; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years, or such shorter period as may be determined by the Council, or until the loan is fully paid off.

SCHEDULE.

The boundaries commence at a point where the north-eastern boundary of the land forming part of the Harbour of Port Nicholson, and granted by deed of grant dated the eighteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five, to the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, joins the Hutt Road, and extending from thence along the said road to a point due east of the eastern extremity of the southern boundary of Section No. 1, Harbour District; thence across the Hutt Road to the eastern extremity of the southern boundary of the said Section No. 1, Harbour District; thence the city is bounded by the said Section No. 1, Harbour District, by Sections Nos. 3 and 2, Kaiwarawara District, and by the Tinakori North and Tinakori South Native Reserves, and by the Orangi-Kaupapa Native Reserve to where its eastern boundary meets the Tinakori Road; thence across the Tinakori Road to the eastern side thereof; thence by the Tinakori Road to where it meets the eastern boundary of Section No. 29, Karori; thence by the said Section No. 29, Karori, and by Section No. 28, Karori, and by Sections Nos. 10 and 11, Ohio, to where the northern boundary of the said Section No. 11 meets a road which runs along the eastern boundary of the said Section No. 11; thence across the said road to the eastern side thereof; thence by the said road and by Sections Nos. 12, 15, 18, and 20, Ohio, and by Section No. 5, Town District, to where the northern boundary of the said Section No. 5 meets the Adelaide Road; thence across the Adelaide Road to the eastern side thereof; thence by the Adelaide Road and by Section No. 2, Town District, and by Sections Nos. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, Evans Bay District, to where the western boundary of the said Section No. 1 meets a road running along the shore of Lambton Harbour; thence across the said road to high-water mark; thence by the waters of Port Nicholson to a point on high-water mark due east of the starting-point; thence by a line due west to the starting-point.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly adopted at a special meeting of the Wellington City Council held on the 5th day of December, 1907, and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 16th day of January, 1908.
