Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Newmarket, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.”

BOROUGH OF NEWMARKET.
“The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and Amendments thereof.
I HEREBY give notice that the result of the poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Newmarket taken on Wednesday, the 26th August, 1908, on the proposal of the Newmarket Borough Council to raise a special loan of £5,000 for the purpose of constructing drainage-works for the drainage of the borough, was as follows:—
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 68; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 16; informal vote, 1; majority in favour of the proposal, 52.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
I, Francis Bennett, of Newmarket, in the Provincial District of Auckland, Mayor of the Borough of Newmarket, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all the proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards the sanction of the ratepayers of the said borough to the proposal to raise a special loan of £5,000 for the construction of drainage-works within the said borough have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Forbidding Money-order and Correspondence for C. Amick, Sydney.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in advertising the treatment of diseases of the sexual organs, it is hereby ordered, under section 9 of “The Post Office Act Amendment Act, 1906,” that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name), or to such addresses without a name, shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.

SPENCER GULF.—PORT LINCOLN.
Masters of vessels and others are hereby warned that a large iron buoy, painted black, is reported to have broken adrift from near Lewis Island, and was last seen on the 28th July in the vicinity of Black Rock, off Thistle Island.
This affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 784, 1061, 2389B.

SPENCER GULF.—LOWLY POINT LIGHT.
Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 2 of 1908, masters of vessels, pilots, and others are informed that the Lowly Point light has been raised an additional 21 ft., and now has a total height of 78 ft. above high water. The range of visibility has been increased to 14 miles.
This notice affects Admiralty Chart No. 2389B.

KAIPARA HARBOUR.—POUTO POINT LIGHT.—RED SECTOR ESTABLISHED.

Wellington, N.Z., 31st August, 1908.
NOTICE is hereby given that a red sector has been put in the Pouto Point light to show over the red buoy that marks the south-west spit of the Mary Catherine Bank. The red arc shows for a quarter of a mile on each side of the buoy.
Charts, &c., affected: Admiralty Charts Nos. 2543 and 2614; “New Zealand Pilot,” seventh edition, Chap. vii, page 246; “New Zealand Nautical Almanac,” pages 150 and 287.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Hukerenui Survey District for Scenery-preservation Purposes.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1908,” and “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1908,” to take for scenery-preservation purposes the land described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Hikurangi, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking thereof, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, Wellington.
