Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Auckland to raise a special loan of £3,000 for the purpose of further laying out and improving Albert Park, Victoria Park, Western Park, Bayfield Park, and the Auckland Domain, was as follows:—
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 887; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 407: majority in favour of the proposal, 480.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

I hereby give notice that the result of the poll of ratepayers of the City of Auckland, taken at Auckland on Wednesday, the 29th day of July, 1908, on the proposal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Auckland to raise a special loan of £1,000 for the purpose of erecting a new morgue, was as follows:—
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 1074; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 267: majority in favour of the proposal, 807.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

PORT OF GEELONG (HOPETOUN CHANNEL).
REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 2 of 1908, mariners and others are hereby informed that the dredger “Thomas Bent” has resumed dredging at the western end (near No. 6 beacon) of the Hopetoun Channel, and is working to the westward, and, in order to indicate the side on which vessels navigating the channel are to pass the dredger, there will be exhibited (by day) a basket ball from the port or starboard side of the dredger, and (by night) two red lights in a vertical position not less than 6 ft. apart. Two anchor lights will also be exhibited by night, one at the stem and one at the stern of the dredger.
During the night, and when not working or when a vessel is about to pass the dredger, she will be hove-to as close to either side of the channel as practicable, but will not be entirely clear of the channel.
Caution.—Mariners and others navigating the channel must pass the dredger at the lowest possible speed, and must stop the engines whilst passing over the dredger-chains.

EXTENSION OF SHOAL AND ALTERATION OF BUOY IN TAURANGA HARBOUR.

NOTICE is hereby given that the shoal off the turning-point from the Stella Passage to the Katikati, locally known as “Sulphur Point Spit,” has extended to the northward, and in consequence the No. 1 red buoy of Stella Passage has been moved 300 ft. in a north-by-east direction, and now lies in 10 ft. at low water, springs. This change in the buoy’s position narrows the Stella Channel, as marked by No. 1 black and No. 1 red buoys. These two buoys are now nearly abreast of each other, and 500 ft. apart.
