Borough of Milton.
IN pursuance of the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1901," I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers
was taken on Wednesday, the 22nd day of July, 1908, upon
the proposal (1) to raise a special loan of £6,000 for the
erecti on of gasworks within the borough to supply the
inhabitants with coal-gas, and the purchase of a freehold
site and all plant and material requisite for the completion
of the work, and that such loan be repaid on the 31st day of
December, 1928; (2) to make an annually recurring special
rate on the annual value of all rateable property in the
borough as security for the interest in connection with such
loan, and that the cost of raising the said loan and the
interest thereon for the first year be paid out of such loan.
The result of the said poll was as follows: Number of votes
recorded in favour of the proposal, 135; number of votes
recorded against the proposal, 49: majority of votes in
favour, 86.
A majority of votes having been given in favour of the said
proposal, I hereby declare that the said proposal has been
carried.

Loan of £6,000.
In the matter of the "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901."
I, John Alexander Duthie, of Milton, in the Provincial
District of Otago, Mayor of the Borough of Milton, do
solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required
by law to be taken in or towards the sanction of the rate-
payers of the said borough to the proposal to raise a special
loan of £6,000 for the erection of gasworks within the said
borough to supply the inhabitants with coal-gas, and the
purchase of a freehold site and all plant and material
requisite for the completion of the work, have been duly
taken, and that the resolution in favour of the said proposal
has been duly carried. And I make this solemn declaration
conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue
of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled
"The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882."

"The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901," and the Amendments
thereof.
I HEREBY give notice that the result of the poll of ratepayers
of the City of Auckland, taken at Auckland on Wednesday,
the 29th day of July, 1908, on the proposal of the Mayor,
Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Auckland to raise a
special loan of £15,000 for the acquisition of land for, and
the widening, forming, and improving of, Custom Street
West, was as follows:-
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 966; number
of votes recorded against the proposal, 364: majority in
favour of the proposal, 602.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

I hereby give notice that the result of the poll of ratepayers
of the City of Auckland, taken at Auckland on Wednesday,
the 29th day of July, 1908, on the proposal of the Mayor,
Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Auckland to raise a
special loan of £32,000 for the purpose of the permanent
formation of certain streets in the City of Auckland, and
other improvements therein, was as follows:-
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 1,027; number
of votes recorded against the proposal, 310: majority in
favour of the proposal, 717.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

of the City of Auckland, taken at Auckland on Wednesday,
the 29th day of July, 1908, on the proposal of the Mayor,
Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Auckland to raise a
special loan of £30,000 for the purpose of completing the
erecti on of a Town Hall for the City of Auckland, was as
follows:-
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 767; number
of votes recorded against the proposal, 568: majority in
favour of the proposal, 199.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

the 29th day of July, 1908, on the proposal of the Mayor,
Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Auckland to raise a
special loan of £40,000 for the extension and enlargement of
the city waterworks, was as follows:-
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 1,050; number
of votes recorded against the proposal, 290: majority in
favour of the proposal, 760.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

of votes recorded against the proposal, 392: majority in
favour of the proposal, 549.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

and widening and forming Upper Symonds Street, was as
follows:-
Number of votes recorded for the proposal, 924; number
of votes recorded against the proposal, 408: majority in
favour of the proposal, 516.
And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.
