cart, to be approved of by the County Clerk
or some one appointed by him, together with
the words, " Hutt County, licensed for Heavy
Traffic," above or around such number.
Form of license.
(6.) A license or receipt for the yearly license fee to be
issued under these by-laws may be in the follow-
ing form or to the effect thereof [Here state the
name of the person making the payment], having
paid the sum of £25 as a license fee on or in
respect of the goods-cart described in the Sche-
dule hereto, such goods-cart is hereby authorised
to be used in heavy traffic within the Hutt
County until twelve months from the date of
license, and during the currency of this license
shall be distinguished by the number which has
been allotted to it.

Inspection of loads.
(7.) The driver of any goods-cart proceeding or being
upon any road, bridge, ferry, or ford under the
care, control, or management of the Hutt County
shall, whenever required by any person autho-
rised by the Council, stop such goods-cart, and
cause the same to remain stationary for a reason-
able time, for the purpose of enabling such per-
son to inspect, examine, and measure the load
thereon; and no person shall hinder or obstruct
such person aforesaid while inspecting, examin-
ing, or measuring any such load.
Repeals.
Chapter III of the Hutt County By-laws, made by special
order, confirmed on the 9th day of May, 1905, is hereby
repealed, and the following chapter substituted in lieu
thereof:
Penalties.
Every person who shall do, or cause to be done, or be
knowingly concerned in doing, or suffer to be done,
anything contrary to or otherwise than as provided
by the foregoing by-laws, or who shall omit to do any-
thing hereinbefore required to be done by him, shall
be deemed guilty of an offence, and shall for each such
offence be liable to a penalty of £5, or such lesser
sum as the Court inflicting the same shall in its
discretion think fit, and in every case in which such
offence shall be a continuing one, then to a penalty of
£5, or such lesser sum as the Court shall think fit, for
every day or part of a day during which such offence
shall continue.
Coming into force.
These by-laws shall come into force on the 1st day of
February, 1908.
The above resolution was passed at a special meeting of
the Hutt County Council, duly convened for, and held at
the offices of the said Council at 2 o'clock p.m. on Thurs-
day, the 21st day of November, 1907, and was confirmed as
a special order at a meeting of the said Council, duly con-
vened for, and held at the offices of the Council at 10 o'clock
a.m. on Tuesday, the 14th day of January, 1908.
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and
Inhabitants of the County of Hutt was hereunto affixed on
the 14th day of January, 1908, in the presence of--

GREY COUNTY COUNCIL.
PUBLIC notice is hereby given of the intention of the
Grey County Council to take land under sections 18
and 19 of "The Public Works Act, 1905." The lands so
proposed to be taken are required for the Paparoa Road and
for gravel reserves to be used in connection with the said
road, and are hereunder described:-

in writing any well-grounded objection to such execution
or taking, and to send such writing, within forty days from
the first publication of this notice, to the Grey County
Council. Plans showing the lands to be taken are deposited
at the office of the Grey County Council, Gresson Street,
Greymouth, and are open for inspection during office hours.
