Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” 1, William Hall-Jones, Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 30th day of July, 1908 :—
PART III.—GOODS : REGULATIONS.
Insert—
REGULATION 44, DEPASTURING STARVING STOCK.
- Starving stock sent from Central Otago and Taieri County certified on the outward journey as for depasturing owing to severity of weather will on return journey be conveyed free of charge from the original destination station to the original forwarding station provided that no portion of the consignment has been sold, exchanged, or otherwise disposed of, provided—
(a.) That the consignment note for the outward journey is indorsed with the following certificate: “I hereby certify that the stock entered hereon are being sent for depasturing purposes only.”
(b.) On the return journey a declaration must be made in the following form :—
“I hereby certify that the stock entered on the consignment note attached hereto were consigned from __ to __ for depasturing purposes only on __, 1908, and are now being returned. I also certify that no portion of the stock has been sold, exchanged, or otherwise disposed of.”
Hay, straw, chaff, grain, turnips, green fodder, ensilage, molasses, molasses fodder, and sucrosine purchased and to be used exclusively for keeping alive stock starving by reason of the severity of the weather will be carried free to stations in Central Otago and Taieri County affected by the severe weather on production by the consignor of a declaration in the following form :—
“I hereby certify that the (a) __ consigned by me from (b) __ to (c) __ has been purchased and is to be immediately used by the consignee solely for the purpose of keeping alive his own stock starving by reason of the recent severe weather, that the fodder is not for sale or storage, and that the price charged to the owners of the stock for the fodder specified hereon does not exceed the price charged on 1st July, 1908.”

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block VI, Akatore Survey District, for a Mining Work.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and “The Coal-mines Act, 1905,” to take for the purpose of working the Waranui Coal-mine the land described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Kaitangata, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking thereof, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the Township of Te Kuiti for a Post-office.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a post-office at Te Kuiti, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Te Kuiti, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of a Road through Pirihaha Block and Paerata Blocks 1 and 2, Blocks III and IV, Maungaru Survey District, Hobson County.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 20th September, 1906, duly taken and laid off through the lands specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 30th July, 1906.
