Land taken for a Native School at Reporua.

PLUNKET, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of June, 1908.

Present :

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, K.C.M.G.,
PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required for a certain public work, to wit, a Native school:

And whereas the Native owners have agreed to make a free gift of the said land to His Majesty the King, and it has been made to appear that such agreement is sufficient for the purposes intended to be effected thereby:

And whereas by a partition order made by the Native Land Court, bearing date the second day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, certain aboriginal Natives are declared to be the owners of the Reporua No. 3 Block, within which the said land is situated:

And whereas, as required by “The Public Works Acts Compilation Act, 1905,” a map has been prepared showing accurately the position and extent of the said land, and such map is hereto attached:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Acts Compilation Act, 1905,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the land shown upon the said map and described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the said Native school, and shall vest in His Majesty the King, as from the twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan as described above, deposited in the Education Department, at Wellington, and thereon bordered pink.

Declaring Roads in Hawtrey Settlement, Makara County, to be County Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of July, 1908.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be county roads.


SCHEDULE.

WAKEFIELD ROAD.

All that road in the Wellington Land District, Makara County, known as Wakefield Road, commencing at its junction with the Ohariu Road, a county road, at the most western corner of Section 3, Sub-block I, and proceeding thence in a south-easterly and easterly direction to its junction with Bassett Road, a county road, at the south-easterly corner of Section 21, Sub-block VII, a distance of 64 chains, more or less, and coloured blue and marked A.B.

DRAKE STREET.

All that road in the Wellington Land District, Makara County, known as Drake Street, commencing at its junction with the aforesaid Wakefield Road, at the south-eastern corner of Section 12, Sub-block VI, and proceeding thence in a northerly direction to its junction with the Ohariu Road, a county road, at the north-eastern corner of Section 3, Sub-block VI, a school reserve, a distance of 8·76 chains, more or less, and coloured reddish brown and marked L.K.

HALSWELL ROAD.

All that road in the Wellington Land District, Makara County, known as Halswell Road, commencing at its junction with the aforesaid Ohariu Road, a county road, at the south-western corner of Section 15, Sub-block V, and proceeding thence in a northerly direction to its junction with Clifford Road, at the north-western corner of Section 1, Sub-block V, a distance of 15·75 chains, more or less, and coloured violet and marked J.I.

CLIFFORD ROAD.

All that road in the Wellington Land District, Makara County, known as Clifford Road, commencing at its junction with the Ohariu Road, a county road, at the western corner of Section 31, Sub-block IV, and proceeding thence in a north-easterly direction round the northern portion of Section 1, Sub-block IV, and from thence in a south-easterly direction to its intersection with Bassett Road, at the eastern corner of Section 11, Sub-block V, a distance of 46·95 chains, more or less, and coloured red and marked E.I.G.F.

BASSETT ROAD.

All that road in the Wellington Land District, Makara County, known as Bassett Road, commencing at its junction with the Ohariu Road, a county road, at the south-eastern corner of Section 17, Sub-block V, and proceeding thence north-easterly until its junctions with the Porirua Road, near the north-eastern corner of Section 3, Sub-block III, a distance of 31·90 chains, more or less, and coloured brown and marked M.F.N.

HAWTREY TERRACE.

All that road in the Wellington Land District, Makara County, known as Hawtrey Terrace, commencing at its junction with Clifford Road, at the north-western corner of Section 21, Sub-block III, and proceeding thence in a north-easterly direction to its junction with the southern boundaries of Sections 2 and 3, Sub-block III, a distance of 15·75 chains, more or less, and coloured green and marked G.H.

WINGFIELD ROAD.

All that road in the Wellington Land District, Makara County, known as Wingfield Road, commencing at its junction with Ohariu Road, a county road, at the western boundary of Section 6, Sub-block II, and proceeding thence in a north-easterly direction to the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Sub-block II, a distance of 14 chains, more or less, and coloured yellow and marked C.D.

All in the Hawtrey Settlement; as the said roads are more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 8734, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon marked and coloured as above mentioned.
