Lands reserved under “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903.”

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1906” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister of Lands, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, should be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the parcels of land described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the parcels of land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be reserves under “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903,” and shall be subject to the provisions of that Act and “The Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1906.”

SCHEDULE.
NORTH ROTORUA SCENIC RESERVES.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 10 perches, more or less, being, Section No. 6, Block VIII, Rotorua Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west and east by a road, and towards the south-west by Sections Nos. 5 and 4, Block VIII, Rotorua Survey District aforesaid; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 55184/17A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 27 acres 2 roods, more or less, being Section No. 31, Block IV, Rotorua Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Section No. 23, Block IV, Rotorua Survey District aforesaid, towards the east by a road, towards the south generally by the Mangakakahi Stream, and towards the south-west by Roy Road; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 55184/17B, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods 8 perches, more or less, being Section No. 30, Block IV, Rotorua Survey District. Bounded towards the north, east, and south by Section No. 13, Block IV, Rotorua Survey District aforesaid, towards the west by a road, again towards the south by the Mangakakahi Stream, and again towards the west by a road; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 55184/17C, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,450 acres, more or less, situated in Block V, Rotoiti Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by the road forming the southern boundaries of Sections Nos. 3, 5, and 7, said Block V; towards the east by Te Waerenga Block; towards the south generally by the road reserve along the northern shore of Lake Rotorua from the western boundary of Te Waerenga Block to the eastern boundary of Mangorewa-Kaharoa No. 3 Block; thence by Mangorewa-Kaharoa Nos. 3, 7, and 2 Blocks to the Wauarere Stream; thence by that stream to its confluence with the Hamurana River; thence by that river and Lake Rotorua to a road reserve; thence across and by the said road reserve to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 12, Block VIII, Rotorua Survey District; and thence towards the south-west by the said Section No. 12 to the road forming the southern boundary of Section No. 3 aforesaid: excepting therefrom Mangorewa-Kaharoa Nos. 4, 10, and 11 Blocks, and the roads intersecting the above-described area: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 55184/17D, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Land, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,685 acres, more or less, being Section No. 12, Block VIII, Rotorua Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by the road forming the southern boundaries of Sections Nos. 1 and 2 of said Block VIII from the north-eastern corner of Section No. 11 to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 2 aforesaid; thence towards the north-east by Block V, Rotoiti Survey District; towards the south generally by the road reserve along the northern shore of Lake Rotorua; towards the south-west by part of Mangorewa-Kaharoa Block; and towards the west generally by a public road and Section No. 11 aforesaid: excepting therefrom Mangorewa-Kaharoa Nos. 6A, 6B, and 6C Blocks, and a public road: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 55184/17E, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this tenth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Constituting the Town District of Ohakune, in the County of Waimarino.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it is enacted by “The Town Districts Act, 1904,” that, notwithstanding the repeal by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” of “The Town Districts Act, 1881,” and “The Town Districts Act 1881 Amendment Act, 1883,” the Governor may, in the manner prescribed by “The Town Districts Act, 1881,” declare that any area wherein there are not less than fifty householders shall be a town district, and thereupon the last-mentioned Act, and also “The Town Districts Act 1881 Amendment Act, 1883,” shall be in force in such town district: And whereas a petition has been presented to the Governor by the inhabitants within the area mentioned and described in the Schedule hereto, praying that such area may be constituted a town district under “The Town Districts Act, 1881”: And whereas the number of householders within such area is not less than fifty:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by “The Town Districts Act, 1904,” and “The Town Districts Act, 1881,” and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said area shall be a town district, and the same is hereby constituted a town district under “The Town Districts Act, 1881,” by the name of the Ohakune Town District. And in further pursuance and exercise of the said powers I do hereby proclaim, declare, and appoint that the Board of Commissioners for the said district shall consist of five members.

SCHEDULE.
OHAKUNE TOWN DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Mangawhero River from the northernmost corner of Section No. 7, Block VIII, Makotuku Survey District, to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section No. 3, Block I, Karioi Survey District; thence across a road and by the last-mentioned section to the Urewera Road; thence towards the south-east by the Urewera Road to its junction with the Ohakune-Waiouru Road; thence towards the south generally by the last-mentioned road to the place where it is intersected by the Mangateitei Stream; thence by that stream to the Rangitaua Road; thence by the Rangitaua Road to the easternmost corner of Section No. 2, Block VIII, Makotuku Survey District; thence by the last-mentioned section and Section No. 4 to Section No. 5, Block VIII aforesaid; and thence towards the north-west by the said Section No. 5 to the place of commencement.
