Warrant authorising the Te Aroha Borough Council to construct a Bridge over the Waihou River at Te Aroha, and Approaches thereto, and apportioning the Cost.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and eighteen of “The Public Works Act, 1905” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that in any case where the local authority of any district desires to construct a bridge in any position that will, in its opinion, be to the advantage and benefit of the whole or any considerable portion of the inhabitants of an adjacent district, as well as to the inhabitants of its own district, and where it is, in the opinion of such local authority, reasonable that the local authority of such adjacent district should contribute to the cost of constructing or establishing the said bridge, the provisions of the said section shall have effect:

And whereas the Te Aroha Borough Council has taken the steps required by the said section, and has made application to the Governor to authorise the construction of the bridge and approaches mentioned in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter referred to as “the said bridge”), and to apportion the cost of constructing the said bridge between the said Council and the Piako County Council:

And whereas the Governor is of opinion that such work should be done, and it is expedient to make provision under the said Act for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby authorise the Te Aroha Borough Council to construct the said bridge; and I do declare that the cost of constructing the said bridge, less such amount (if any) by way of contribution as may be made thereto by the Government of New Zealand, shall be borne in the following proportions—namely, the Piako County Council shall contribute one-half and the Te Aroha Borough Council shall contribute one-half of the money required, less the contribution aforesaid of the Government of New Zealand.

And I do hereby also further direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Piako County Council shall be paid out of the funds of the said County Council, within a period of thirty days after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Te Aroha Borough Council, and all such payments shall be made to the Clerk of the said Borough Council for and on account of such Council.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Waihou River at Te Aroha, at the foot of Kenrick Street, Te Aroha, and approaches thereto; as the site of the said bridge is delineated on the plan marked R. 4155, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon shown in red colour.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Warrant authorising the Minister for Public Works to construct a Bridge over the Puniu River at Te Awamutu, and apportioning the Cost of the Bridge.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS, under the provisions of section one hundred and eighteen of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” the Minister in Charge of Roads Department has, for and on behalf of the Minister for Public Works (hereinafter termed “the said Minister”), made application to the Governor to authorise the construction of the bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter referred to as “the said bridge”), and to apportion the cost of constructing the said bridge between the said Minister, on behalf of His Majesty the King, and the Te Awamutu Town Board, and the said Board has assented to such apportionment:

And whereas the Governor is of opinion that the work should be done, and that the cost thereof should be borne by the said Minister, on behalf of His Majesty the King, and the Te Awamutu Town Board in the several proportions hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by The Public Works Act, 1905,” and of every other power and authority enabling me in this behalf, do hereby authorise the said Minister to construct the said bridge; and I do hereby declare that the cost of constructing the said bridge shall be borne as follows—namely, two-thirds of the cost shall be borne by the said Minister, and one-third by the Te Awamutu Town Board.

SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge over the Puniu River at Te Awamutu, and known as the Puniu Bridge; as the site of the said bridge is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 2075, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon shown in red colour.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Trustees for the Kiritehere Public Cemetery appointed.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the several persons whose names are specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto to be Trustees to provide for the maintenance and care of the public cemetery specified in the second column of the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

Names of Trustees. Name of Public Cemetery, and Description of Land.
Richard Gregg, John Wouldes, John Willison, Alexander Spencer Rose, and Philip Klein. KIRITEHERE. All that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres 3 roods 17 perches, more or less, being Section No. 5, Block VI, Marakopa Survey District, Awakino County. Bounded towards the north-east by Section No. 1, Block VI, Marakopa Survey District, 930 links; towards the south-east and south-west by a public road along the Kiritehere Stream, 627, 200, 200, and 100 links; towards the west generally by a public road along the Tasman Sea, 240, 160, 320, 220, and 80 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 57598/4, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twelfth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Trustees for the Elizabeth Public Cemetery appointed.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Herbert Melville Rathbone, William James Pellow, and Duncan Mundell, to be Trustees, in the place of William Rathbone, Samuel Johnson, and Alexander Corskie (deceased), to provide for the maintenance and care of the Elizabeth Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twelfth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight.
