THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Situated in the Retaruke-Kirikau Block, on left bank of Wanganui River to the north of Retaruke River. Comprises hilly, undulating, and broken country. Soil is a light clay and humus, on papa-and-sandstone formation; well watered. Forest comprises tawa, rata, hinau, rimu, miro, &c., with usual undergrowth.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twelfth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Opening Settlement Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection.


PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and their amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”

Sections are all in grass and perfectly level. Altitude, 210 ft. above sea-level. The soil is of good light loamy nature. Some of the sections have about 1 chain of fencing on them. The Matamata Railway-station adjoins Matamata Township, and the express railway-train always stops at the former place, as also does a goods-train.

Land from light to good loamy nature; all in grass, and level to very gently undulating. Altitude, from 220 ft. to 260 ft. above sea-level. Distant from three to five miles and a half from Matamata Railway-station, and adjoining school and creamery sites. Sections 51 and 54, Block VI, Tapapa Survey District, have fencing on them to the value of £1 5s. and £1 respectively.

Level to very broken land of light sandy-loam nature. Watered by Piarere Stream. Distant from Hinuera Railway-station, about seven miles. Admirably situated on main road between Cambridge and Rotorua, and adjoining creamery-site.
