Opening National Endowment Lands in Wellington Land District for Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and the National Endowment Act, 1907.

MAURICEVILLE COUNTY.—TARARUA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £83 15s. valuation for improvements.
Situated on the Kaiparoro Road. Access is from Manga-mahoe Railway-station, which is about nine miles distant, by six miles of metalled road, two miles of formed road, and the remainder bridle-track. Comprises steep hilly land, with soil of an inferior clayey nature, on rotten-rock formation. The forest consists of birch, rata, tawa, rewarewa, &c., with the usual undergrowth of rangiora, supplejack, &c. Well watered by permanent streams. Elevation, from about 700 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level. The improvements comprise about 70 acres felled and grassed; garden and fence (out of repair); and whare, 14 ft. by 16 ft. by 6 ft., with iron roof.
HUTT COUNTY.—AKATARAWA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Steep hilly land. Situated on the main coach-road, about two miles south of the Rimutaka Saddle, on both sides of the road. Access is from Kaitoke, which is about five miles distant. Soil is of an inferior rocky nature, on rock formation. Undergrowth consists of fern, cottonwood, broom, &c. Well watered by a small creek. Elevation, from about 1,500 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level.
PAHIATUA COUNTY.—PUKETOI SURVEY DISTRICT.

Situated on the northern slopes of the Puketoi Range, about six miles and a half from Makuri Township. Access is from Makuri, which is about six miles and a half distant, via Makuri-Aohanga Road for four miles. Comprises hilly country, sloping from top of Puketoi Range. Soil of inferior quality, on limestone formation. The forest is comprised of tawhero and mountain scrub. Elevation, about 2,560 ft. above sea-level.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”
