All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 14,700 acres, situated in Blocks X, Forest Hill Hundred, I and II, Lindhurst Hundred, and I, IV, V, and VI, Waimumu Hundred. Commencing at the north-western corner of Lindhurst Hundred; bounded thence by the northern boundary of that hundred for a distance of 35 chains or thereabouts; thence by a line due north to a point due west of the southern boundary-line of Section No. 32, Block I, Waimumu Hundred; thence by a line due east to the south-western corner of that section; thence by that section and by Sections Nos. 17 and 16; thence by Sections Nos. 24, 23, 18, 33, and 11 in said hundred; thence by Allotments Nos. 48, 45, 44, 43, and 42, L.T. Plan 177; thence by Allotments Nos. 27, 26, 25, 24, and 23, L.T. Plan 176A, Sections Nos. 18, 17, 11, 9, 8, and 1, Block I, Lindhurst Hundred; thence by Sections Nos. 86, 199, 67, 200, 174, 223, a road along Dunsdale Stream, and Sections Nos. 178, 413, and reserve for Invercargill waterworks to the commencing-point.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 39882/191A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

RAYMOND’S GAP BLOCK.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 350 acres 3 roods 15 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 8, 9, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, situated in Block IV, Aparima Hundred; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 39882/191B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

TOROI BLOCK.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 7,400 acres, situated in Blocks IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII, Lord’s River Survey District. Commencing at a point on the Toitoi River due west of Trig. C; bounded on the north by a line due east to the eastern boundary of said Block IV; towards the east by a line due south to the ocean; towards the south by the ocean to a point due south of Trig. B; towards the west by a line due north to Toitoi River aforesaid; thence by that river to the point of commencement.

LORD’S RIVER BLOCK.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 8,724 acres 3 roods 24 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 1 to 18 inclusive, Block IX, and Sections Nos. 1 to 14 inclusive, Block X, Lord’s River Survey District.

PORT ADVENTURE BLOCK.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 10,000 acres, situated in Blocks I and II, Lord’s River Survey District, and Blocks IX, X, and XI, Paterson Survey District. Commencing at Trig. Station P, Paterson District aforesaid; bounded thence by a line due east to the eastern boundary of said Block IX; thence by a line due north to the southern boundary of Block XI in the said district; thence by a line due east to the south-east corner of Section No. 23, Block XI aforesaid; thence by the eastern boundary of that section to the ocean; thence by the ocean to Starling Point; thence by Sections Nos. 9 and 10, Block I aforesaid, to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a line due south to Oyster Cove, and by that cove and Fife’s Creek to a point due south of Trig. P aforesaid; thence by a line due north to the commencing-point: excepting therefrom Sections Nos. 1, 4, 5, and 6, Block X, Paterson Survey District.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 39882/191C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

WAIKAWA BLOCK.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 5,238 acres 1 rood 4 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12, Block XVI, Waikawa Survey District; as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 39882/191D, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

WAIBAURAHIRI BLOCK.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 10,456 acres 2 roods 23 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 6, 7, 8, and 9, Block XII, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, Block XIII, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, Block XIV, Waitutu Survey District; and Sections Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, Block XII, and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, Block XIII, Rowallan Survey District: as the same is de-

lineated on the plan marked S.G. 39882/191E, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 43,275 acres and 16 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 1 to 9 inclusive, Block II; 1 to 14 inclusive, Block III; 1 to 17 inclusive, Block IV; 1 to 16 inclusive, Block VII; 1 to 5 inclusive, and 7 to 19 inclusive, Block VIII; 1, Block XI; and 1, Block XIV, Rowallan Survey District: and Sections Nos. 1 to 20 inclusive, Block IV; 1 to 14 inclusive, Block V; 1 to 16 inclusive, Block VII; 1 to 7 inclusive, Block VIII; and 1 to 11 inclusive, Block IX, Alton Survey District: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 39882/191F, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may appoint a Commission who may inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there may be thermal springs, and report thereon to the Governor, with recommendations as to what lands should be reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas such Commission was duly appointed, and, after inspection, recommended that the parcel of land described in the Schedule hereunder should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, and of “The Scenery Preservation Amendment Act, 1906,” do hereby proclaim and declare that the parcel of land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be reserved under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.


SCHEDULE.

WAIAU RIVER ISLANDS SCENIC RESERVE.

All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 600 acres, situated in Longwood Survey District, and being islands in the Waiau River lying between its mouth and its junction with Camp Creek: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 51113/11, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight.
