Result of Poll.—Proposed Loan No. 78.—Ballance
Bridges, &c.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 26th
February, 1908, on a proposal to raise a loan of £1,000 for
the erection of four bridges in the Ballance district, and for
formation and metalling portion of the Ballance Valley
Road :—

Number of voters on the roll 73, representing 109 votes.
Votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 51 ; against the
proposal, 25 ; informal, 4.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the pro-
posal is in excess of three-fifths of the total number of votes
recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Christchurch
for a Branch Post-office.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” to
execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a
branch Post-office at Christchurch, and for the purposes of
such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto
is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given
that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited
in the Public Works Office at Christchurch, and is there
open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the
execution of the said public work or by the taking of the
said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections
to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of
such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such
writing, within forty days from the first publication of this
notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.
