over the Mangaroa Stream, the said Waiapu County Council
do hereby make an levy a special rate of 1d. in the pound
upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the
Waiapu Loan District, comprising the lands defined in the
Schedule hereto; and that such special rate shall be an
annual recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and
be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every
year during a period equal to the currency of such loan,
being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully
paid off. The rate of interest to be 5 per cent.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and In-
habitants of the County of Waiapu was hereto affixed in the

COUNTY OF TAURANGA.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,”
and the several Acts amending the same respectively.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 11th day of February,
1908, a proposal was submitted by the Tauranga County
Council to the ratepayers whose properties are within the
boundaries of Te Puke Riding for raising a loan of £3,000
for metalling the main roads within such riding, and that
the number of valid votes recorded at the poll of the rate-
payers of that portion of the County of Tauranga was as
follows: For the proposal, 49 votes; against the proposal,
10 votes.

As the number of valid votes recorded in favour of the
proposal is in excess of three-fifths of the total number of
valid votes recorded at the poll, I, John Alexander Murray
Davidson, County Chairman, do hereby declare the proposal
carried.

HEATHCOTE ROAD BOARD.

Notice pursuant to the Provisions of “The Local Bodies’
Loans Act, 1901.”

PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans
Act, 1901,” I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers
in respect of properties in that part of the Avon Ward known
as “Avonside,” being all that area comprised within the
following boundaries—commencing at the junction of Canal
Reserve Road, Woodham’s Road, River Road, and River
Avon; thence in an easterly direction along Woodham’s

Road to its junction with the new Brighton Road, at the
south-eastern boundary of Rural Section 161; thence by the
said New Brighton Road to its junction with the River Road
and River Avon, at the north-east corner of Rural Section 1656; thence by the River Road and the River Avon
to the place of commencement in the Heathcote Road District—to decide by vote of the ratepayers whether the proposals for raising a loan of £5,200 for a period of twenty
years, with interest and sinking fund at £5 per centum per
annum, notice of which was published in the Lyttelton Times
of the 28th December, 1907, and the 2nd, 9th, and 16th
January, 1908, should be carried into effect, was duly taken
in a marquee erected on Mr Parsonson’s property, Retreat
Road, Avonside, on Thursday, the 13th February, 1908, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. of the said day; and
I hereby give further notice that at the taking of the said
poll the votes of the said ratepayers in the said district
known as “Avonside” were given as follows: For the proposal, 64; against the proposal, 17.

The total number of valid votes recorded at the said poll
in favour of the said proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded thereat. I therefore declare
the said proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the
Borough of Roxburgh, is published in accordance with
the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF ROXBURGH.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,”
and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts
amending the same respectively.

I HEREBY give notice that a poll was taken on the 20th day of
February, 1908, on the proposal of the Roxburgh Borough
Council to raise a special loan of £800 for the purpose of
doing all things necessary to light the roads, streets, and
public places of the borough with acetylene gas, and to
supply acetylene gas to the inhabitants thereof, and to
make an annually recurring special rate of 6d. in the pound
on the annual value of all rateable property in the said
borough as security for the interest in connection with such
loan. The whole of the loan to be secured by sixteen debentures of £50 each, eight being repayable at the expiration of
five years and eight at the expiration of ten years from the
raising of the loan. Such debentures to bear interest at the
rate of £5 per cent. per annum, payable by equal half-yearly
payments. The cost of raising the loan (but not the first
year’s interest of the loan) to be paid out of the loan-
monies.

The following votes were recorded: For the proposal, 19
votes; against the proposal, 25 votes; informal, nil.

And I declare the said proposal to be rejected.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 21st day of February,
1908, a proposal was submitted by the Onslow Borough
Council to the ratepayers of a defined part of the
borough comprising the whole of the North Ward, except
Sections 93, 94, 127, and 128, Ohariu Survey District, and,
roughly, the north westerly half of the East Ward (particularly described in the notice advertised as required by
