section 8 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901”), for the purpose of raising a special loan of £4,500 for and in connection with the payment of compensation for lands proposed to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1905,” for the purpose of constructing and providing waterworks within the meaning of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” in and for the benefit of a defined part of the borough, and for the legal and other costs and incidental expenses of and in connection with the raising of the loan and the taking of such land, and for interest on the loan for the first year; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 153; against, 51.

I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

Notice to Imprestees under “The Public Revenues Act, 1891.”

The Treasury,
Wellington, 27th February, 1908.

EVERY officer holding advances of public money is hereby required to pay to the Public Account, at the nearest branch of the Bank of New Zealand, the unexpended balance of his account on or before Tuesday, the 31st March proximo, and forthwith to transmit to the Treasury at Wellington the bank receipt for such repayment, together with an account of his expenditure to the same date, as required by clause 4 of the Treasury Regulations.

As respects disbursements which officers may require to make immediately after the close of the financial year, requisitions for the amount required are to be made in such time as to enable them to reach Wellington not later than the 16th March, so that the requisite funds may be placed at the disposal of the officer as soon after the 1st April as possible.

“The Shops and Offices Act, 1904.” — Amended Notice specifying Combined District of Auckland.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 8 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Labour, do hereby specify that the Combined District of Auckland comprises the City of Auckland and the Boroughs of Parnell, Newmarket, Grey Lynn, Mount Eden, Northcote, and Birkenhead.

Notice as to Statutory Closing-day under “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904.”

WHEREAS the local authorities of the City of Auckland and the Boroughs of Parnell, Newmarket, Grey Lynn, Mount Eden, Northcote, and Birkenhead, comprising the Combined District of Auckland, have failed to decide what working-day in the week shall be the statutory closing-day for shops in their district:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 13 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Wednesday to be the statutory closing-day for shops in the said Combined District of Auckland.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the Chairman of the Conference of Delegates of all the local authorities of the Combined District of Wellington, as constituted for the purpose of that Act, and comprising the City of Wellington, the Boroughs of Onslow, Karori, and Miramar, and the Town District of Johnsonville, I, John Andrew Millar, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Wednesday to be the statutory closing-day for shops in the said Combined District of Wellington.
