Extending Hour for closing Poll at a Poll for a Loan, Heathcote Road District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this fifth day of February, 1908.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by “The Local Elections Act, 1904,” His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby extend the hour at which the poll for a special loan of five thousand two hundred pounds, to be held and taken under “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901,” in the Heathcote Road District, on the thirteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eight, shall close, to seven o'clock in the afternoon of the same day.

Duty to be levied on certain Articles of the Nature of Glucose.
PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS the articles specified in the Schedule hereto are imported into New Zealand, and are articles which, in the opinion of the Minister of Customs, possess such properties that they can be used for purposes similar to those for which glucose is used, glucose being subject to a duty of one penny the pound under the Tariff Act, 1907:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority conferred upon me by section seventeen of the Tariff Act, 1907, do hereby direct that there shall be levied on the articles specified in the said Schedule a duty of one penny the pound, such duty being equal to the duty on glucose.

Dextro lævulose, or invert sugar.
Grape-sugar.
Saccharum.
Sacchosoline.
Glucose obtained from other sources than starch.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the fifteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

KAWHIA COUNTY.—KAWHIA NORTH SURVEY DISTRICT.
Altitude, from 50 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land; about 20 acres swamp; 30 acres light forest, comprising tawhero and rewarewa, with some matai and rimu; balance covered with manuka and fern. Soil of medium quality, inferior on ridges, but fair on slopes, on limestone-and-sandstone formation. The greater portion of the section lies to the sun; well watered. Situated six miles from Oparau Post-office—five miles by 12 ft. road, formed but not metalled, balance by bridle-track. Launches can get up the Awaroa River to the section.
OPOTIKI COUNTY.—WAIOEKA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 1,800 ft. above sea-level. Broken land, covered with fairly heavy mixed forest, comprising tawa, towai, rata, hinau, with thick undergrowth; there is sufficient rimu and totara for building and fencing. Soil of fair quality, but inferior in places, on old sedimentary formation; well watered. Access from Opotiki, eleven miles—nine miles cart-road, mile and a half by 6 ft. road, half a mile as yet unformed.

FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Pukete Parish.
Weighted with £14 7s. 6d., valuation for fencing, clearing, and grassing.
Altitude, from 30 ft. to 50 ft. above sea-level. With the exception of about 2 acres, the whole of the section is flat and in native grass, with a little fern and blackberry; black soil of good quality, on slate formation; well watered by running stream. Distant just over one mile from Whatawhata, mostly by good cart-road.
