Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the fifteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Altitude, from 500 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level. Broken tomo country, suited for pastoral purposes. Section 1 has about 100 acres fern, with patches of grass and rough feed through it; Section 2, 50 acres, and Section 3, 30 acres, fern land; balance of both sections covered with heavy mixed forest, comprising rata, rimu, hinau, tawa, and mahoe, with some tawhero on ridges, and kahikatea and pukatea on low places, and heavy undergrowth of supplejack, kiekie, and raurekau. Soil, good clay, resting on limestone formation. Sections 1 and 3 are well watered; Section 2 less so, but there are springs and small streams on section. Situated about ten miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station—nine miles by Te Kumi-Mairoa Road, which is at present formed as a bridle-track; balance unformed.

Broken country; about 70 acres mixed forest, comprising tawa, mahoe, rimu, rata, hinau, with heavy undergrowth of supplejack, raurekau, and kiekie; balance fern land, with patches of grass and rough feed in places. Soil, a good clay, resting on limestone formation; poorly watered by two small springs. Situated about nine miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station by Te Kumi-Mairoa Road, which at present is a bridle-track.

Altitude, from 1 ft. to 50 ft. above sea-level. About 2 acres swamp; remainder broken land, covered with fern and scrub. Soil of second-class nature, resting on sandstone formation; well watered by spring. Access by boat at high water, about three miles from Ohiwa Wharf; or by bridle-track, about two miles, to the Whakatane—Opotiki inland road, thence six miles to Kutarere Post-office.

Opening Lands in Westland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on Wednesday, the eighth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments.
