Te Kapara, Waihekau Nos. 3, 4, and 2 Blocks, and by part
of the south-eastern boundary-line of the last-mentioned
block to the Waitoa River; and towards the west generally
by the Waitoa River aforesaid.
TE AROHA RIDING.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded to-
wards the north and north-west by the Ohinemuri County;
towards the north-east generally by the Tauranga County to
the boundary between the Piako and Matamata Counties;
towards the south generally by the Matamata County afore-
said to the Waihou River; and towards the south-west
generally by the Waihou River aforesaid: save and except
from the hereinbefore-described area the Te Aroha Borough.
MANAWARU RIDING.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded to-
wards the north-west and north generally by the Waihou
Riding hereinbefore defined; towards the north-east gene-
rally by the Waihou River; towards the south-east and
south generally by the Matamata County; and towards the
south-west generally by the Waitoa River.
WALTON RIDING.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded to-
wards the north-west generally by the Morrinsville and
Waitoa Ridings hereinbefore defined; towards the east
generally by the Waitoa and Mangapapa Rivers; towards
the south-east generally by the Matamata County; and to-
wards the south-west by the Waikato County.

of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight
Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Go-
vernor and Commander-in-Chief in and over

Wellington, this third day of December, in the
year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and

New County of Matamata divided into Ridings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by “The Counties Act, 1908,” and the
Matamata County Act, 1908, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket,
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
divide the new County of Matamata, as constituted by the
said Acts, into five ridings, to be called the Taotaoroa
Riding, the Matamata Riding, the Patetere Riding, the
Maungatautari Riding, and the Putaruru Riding, and de-
clare that the boundaries thereof shall be those set forth in
the Schedule hereto.
And I do hereby declare that one member shall be elected
for the said Taotaoroa Riding, two members for the said
Matamata Riding, two members for the said Patetere Riding,
one member for the said Maungatautari Riding, and one mem-
ber for the said Putaruru Riding. And I do further declare
that Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of January, one
thousand nine hundred and nine, shall be the day upon
which the election of the first Council of the said County
of Matamata shall take place, and that Wednesday, the
third day of February, one thousand nine hundred and nine,
at two o’clock in the afternoon, shall be the time, and the
office of the Piako County Council, Te Aroha, shall be the
place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall
be held.
SCHEDULE.
TAOTAOROA RIDING.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded com-
mencing at the southernmost corner of Maunganui Block;
towards the north-west and north-east generally by the
Piako County and Te Tapui Block; towards the east gene-
rally by Te Tapui Block aforesaid, Section No. 136, Block
VIII, Sections Nos. 135 and 134, Block XII, the crossing of
the Cambridge Road, and by Sections Nos. 132, 131, 130,
and 129, Block XVI, all the aforesaid blocks being of the
Cambridge Survey District, and by the production of the
western boundary-line of Section No. 129 aforesaid to the
Waikato River; towards the south-west generally by the
Waikato River aforesaid to the boundary of the Borough of
Cambridge; towards the west by the Cambridge Borough
aforesaid; and again towards the north-east and south-west
by the Waikato County to the point of commencement.
MATAMATA RIDING.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded
commencing at the westernmost point of Te Tapui Block;
towards the north-west generally by the Piako County;
towards the east generally by the Tauranga County to Trig.
Station 146 (Te Weraiti); towards the south-east generally
by Okauia No. 1b Block, Waiomou Stream, Waihou River,
Mangawhero No. 2 Block, Mangawhero Stream, Manga-
whara No. 1a Block, Mangawhara Stream, Sections
Nos. 95 and 98, Block IX, Tapapa Survey District, Waitoa
Stream, Hinuwerā No. 1b Block, and by the Cambridge
Road; and towards the west and south-west generally by
the Taotaoroa Riding hereinbefore defined to the point of
commencement.
PATETERE RIDING.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded
towards the north-west generally by the Matamata Riding
hereinbefore defined; towards the north-east by the Tau-
ranga County; towards the south-east by the Rotorua
County to the northern boundary-line of Section No. 9,
Block XIII, Rotorua Survey District; towards the south-
west generally by Section No. 9 aforesaid, Sections Nos. 8, 7,
6, 5, 4, and 3 of Block XIII aforesaid, and the crossing of a
road to the Auckland and Rotorua Railway line, by the
aforesaid railway line to the Oraka Stream, by that stream
to a line forming part of the southern boundary of Lot
No. 39 on Plan No. 4280A, deposited in the District Land
Registry Office, at Auckland, and being a portion of Manga-
karetu No. 1 Block, and by that line to the road forming
the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 1, Block VI,
Patetere North Survey District, and by that road and its
crossing to the northernmost point of Section No. 1 afore-
said; again towards the south-east by the last-mentioned
section, Section No. 3 of Block VI, Patetere North Survey
District aforesaid, Sections Nos. 7 and 8 of Block V, Pate-
tere North Survey District aforesaid, by the Pokaiwhenua
Stream to the eastern boundary of Waipa Block, and by
part of the eastern, south-eastern, and the south-western
boundary-lines of Waipa Block aforesaid to the Waikato
River; and towards the west generally by the Waikato
River aforesaid and the Taotaoroa Riding hereinbefore
defined.
MAUNGATAUTARI RIDING.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded
towards the north-east and east generally by the Waikato
River to the boundary between the Matamata and West
Taupo Counties; towards the south-west generally by the
West Taupo County aforesaid; and towards the north-west
by the Waipa County.
PUTARURU RIDING.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded
towards the north-west and north-east generally by the
Waikato River and the Patetere Riding hereinbefore defined;
towards the south east by the Rotorua County; and towards
the south-west by the West Taupo County.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section seventy-five of “The Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908,” it is, amongst other
things, enacted that before any moneys as therein men-
tioned are expended upon any block of land it shall be
necessary that the said block be proclaimed as set apart for
settlement: And whereas by section two hundred and
sixty-eight of “The Land Act, 1908,” it is enacted that the
Minister of Finance may from time to time, in accordance
with sections seventy-five to seventy-seven of the first-
mentioned Act, issue and apply moneys as therein men-
tioned for the purposes therein set forth in connection with
national endowment land: And whereas the block of land
described in the Schedule hereto is national endowment
land:
