Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power
conferred on me by the above-mentioned Acts, and of every
other power and authority enabling me in this behalf, and
for the purposes of the said Acts, I, William Lee, Baron
Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby proclaim the block of land described in the Sche-
dule hereto as set apart for settlement.

NATIONAL ENDOWMENT LAND.—NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

Defining the Middle-line of the Remaining Portion of
the Midland Railway between Otarama and Jackson's—
viz., Bealey Section and Remaining Portion of the Arthur's
Pass Section.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the section of the Midland Railway be-
tween Otarama and Jackson's (hereinafter termed
"the said railway") is a railway the construction of which
is authorised by "The Public Works Act, 1908": And
whereas the said railway has been partially constructed,
and it has been determined to construct and maintain the
remaining portion of the same—viz., Bealey Section and
remaining portion of Arthur's Pass Section:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by "The
Public Works Act, 1908," and in exercise of every other
power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle-line of the
said remaining portion of the said railway shall be that
defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
MIDLAND RAILWAY (BEALEY SECTION AND REMAINING PORTION
OF ARTHUR'S PASS SECTION).
Commencing at a point in Education Reserve, Block XIII,
Hawdon Survey District, which point is marked as being
27 miles 40 chains from the Springfield initial of the Midland
Railway, and is distant about 7 chains in a southerly
direction from the south-eastern corner of Section 9303,
and is also the termination of the railway described in a
Proclamation dated the 23rd day of December, 1905, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 1, of the 11th
January, 1906; proceeding thence generally in a north-
westerly direction for a distance of about 20 miles 70 chains,
and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands—
viz., Education Reserve, Section 9303, Crown lands, and Re-
serve No. 379, all in Block XIII, Hawdon Survey District;
Reserve No. 379, lands covered by flood-waters of the Wai-
makariri River, National Park Reserve No. 3535, Section 6711,
Block XVI; National Park Reserve No. 3535, Block XV;
National Park Reserve No. 3535, Bealey River bed, in
Blocks XIV, X, and VI; all in Bealey Survey District, in the
Land District of Canterbury; also National Park Reserve
No. 347 in Block II, Arthur's Pass Survey District, and
Block XIV, Otira Survey District; all in the Westland
Land District—and terminating in the said Block XIV,
Otira Survey District, at a point marked 48 miles 30 chains
from the before-mentioned Springfield initial, which point
is also the termination of the railway described in a Pro-
clamation dated the 4th day of October, 1905, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette of the 5th day of October, 1905:
including all adjoining and intervening places, land, re-
serves, roads, tracks, rivers, streams, and watercourses:
as the same is delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 24008,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by
section eleven of "The Land Act, 1908," I, William
Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of
New Zealand, with the consent of the lessees, mortgagee,
and caveators of the lands hereinafter mentioned, and with
the consent of the Wallace County Council, being the local
authority in whose district the said lands are situated, do by
this notice hereby proclaim as taken for a road the lands
in Longwood Survey District described in the Schedule
hereto.

the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map, and also
the statutory declaration, as required by the said Act:
