Change of Name of Borough of Hawksbury to Borough of Waikouaiti.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Council of the Borough of Hawksbury has, by resolution adopted at an ordinary meeting thereof, requested that the name of that borough be altered from “Hawksbury” to “Waikouaiti”:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Designation of Districts Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the name of the borough now known as “Hawksbury” shall be and the same is hereby altered to “Waikouaiti,” and do assign the last-mentioned name to such borough accordingly; and also do hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nine, not being earlier than six months after the first publication thereof in the Gazette.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eight.

Redividing County of Piako into Ridings, &c., under “The Counties Act, 1908.”

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Matamata County Act, 1908, a portion of the County of Piako was included within the boundaries of the new County of Matamata, and it is therefore expedient to redivide the said County of Piako into fresh ridings, and also to determine the number of Councillors to be elected for each riding, and the date for the election of such Councillors:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Counties Act, 1908,” do hereby redivide the said County of Piako into six ridings, to be called the Morrinsville Riding, the Waitoa Riding, the Waihou Riding, the Te Aroha Riding, the Manawaru Riding, and the Walton Riding; and do hereby declare that the boundaries of the said ridings shall be those set forth under the names of the said ridings respectively in the Schedule hereto, and that the number of Councillors to be elected for such ridings shall be one for each riding; and I do further declare that Wednesday, the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and nine, shall be the day upon which the election of Councillors for the said ridings shall be held.

SCHEDULE.

MORRINSVILLE RIDING.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded commencing at the north-western corner of Piako County; towards the north by the Ohinemuri County to the Piako River; towards the north-east generally by the Piako River aforesaid and the Waiharakeke Stream and Te Whakahongi Block to its southernmost point; towards the south-east generally by the Kahutopanga and Kiwitahi No. 1A Blocks; towards the south-west generally by Te Au-o-Waikato No. 1 and Pakarau Blocks, by the Tonepi and Topehahae Streams and Tahuroa No. 2 Block to its northernmost point; again towards the south-east by the last-mentioned block and Tahuroa No. 1 Block; and again towards the south-west by the Waikato County to the point of commencement: save and except from the hereinbefore-described area the Town District of Morrinsville.

WAITOA RIDING.

All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north from the Piako River to the Waitoa River by the Ohinemuri County; towards the east generally by the Waitoa River aforesaid; and towards the south-west generally by Pakarau Pa “B” Block and Kahutopanga Block, and the Morrinsville Riding hereinbefore defined.

WAIHOU RIDING.

All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north from the Waitoa River to the Waihou River by the Ohinemuri County; towards the north-east generally by the Waihou River aforesaid; towards the south and south-east generally by the road forming the southern boundaries of Sections Nos. 27, 25, 24, 23, and 22 of Block XII, Aroha Survey District, Sections Nos. 19B and 17 of Block XI of the same survey district, and the south-eastern boundaries of
