Soil a mixed loam and clay of fair quality, on clay-and-stony subsoil; well watered by small steams. Distant twelve miles from Kaihu Railway-station—eleven miles dray-road and one mile bridle-track.

Altitude, from 300 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land; about 90 acres mixed forest, comprising 18,000 superficial feet of kauri timber, some rimu-trees, kahikatea, totara, puriri, birch, rata, tawa, and taraire, with light undergrowth; balance covered with fern and scrub. Soil mixed loam and clay of fair quality, on limestone-and-sandstone formation; watered by small streams. Situated about seven miles from Matakоhe—five miles by dray-road and two miles by bridle-track.

Opening Land in Nelson Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on Thursday, the ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on renewable lease only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments.

Situated about three-quarters of a mile from Longford Post-office and Telegraph-station, and about 10 chains off the main coach-road—Nelson to Westport. Portion of the block known as the Matiri Valley Block. Open and forest-clad land, the timber being brown-birch and silver-birch, not suitable for milling. Formation, sandstone and conglomerate. Soil is very fair, and well watered. Northern and western portions of the area lie well to the sun, and when cleared will carry good grass.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and their amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eight, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”
