Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and thirty-six of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

About two miles and a half from Otorohanga by formed road.

Undulating land; about 5 acres forest, mostly tawa, with light undergrowth; balance fern and tea-tree; soil good to medium quality, on limestone formation; well watered by Mokau River and small streams. Situated twenty miles from Te Kuiti—eighteen miles formed road and two miles in course of construction.

Whakatane County.—Waimana Parish.

Steep and broken country, covered with fern and scrub, except 27 acres light forest, mostly tawa, with thick undergrowth of scrub; soil of good quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by springs. Fronts Opotiki–Whakatane main coach-road, about five miles from Kutarere Post-office.

Raglan County.—Maramarua Survey District.

Altitude, from 100 ft. to 150 ft. above sea-level. About 15 acres light bush, principally tawa, with light undergrowth of supplejack and small ferns; 50 acres wet swamp, balance undulating fern land; mostly ploughable; black and brown soil of very light nature, on clay subsoil. Access from Tuakau, distant fifteen miles by good road.

About 10 acres light bush, principally tawa, with light undergrowth of tree-ferns; 200 acres rush swamps, balance fern and tea-tree hills; soil of inferior quality, on clay formation; indifferently watered by swamps. Situated about sixteen miles from Tuakau by good road.

Manukau County.—Otai Parish.

Weighted with £292, valuation for improvements, consisting of house and 128 acres felled and grassed.

Altitude, 600 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Rather broken land; 128 acres bush felled and grassed; balance mixed forest, comprising rimu, hinau, and tawa; undergrowth of supplejack, ferns, ponga, and nikau; soil a reddish clay of fair quality, resting on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Distant about five miles from Clevedon Township by good road in summer—cart-road as far as the boundary of the section, thence along boundary of section by formed sledge-track.
