HOROWHENUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Gorge Road Loan of £2,000.—Ordinary Meeting, 8th November, 1907.—Confirmation of Special Order made 12th October, 1907, re above Loan.

That the special order made at a special meeting held on the 12th day of October, 1907, for raising a loan of £2,000, under clauses 7 to 13 and 16 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of widening and constructing a road from the Waiohenga Bridge to The Forks on the Gorge Road, Te Horo Riding, and the levying of a special rate of 77/100d. in the pound upon the capital value of all rateable properties in the Te Horo Riding of the Horowhenua County for forty-one years at 4 per cent., be now confirmed.

I certify the above to be a copy of the resolution confirming the special order re Gorge Road loan of £2,000 passed at an ordinary meeting of the Council on the 8th day of November, 1907.

THE following special order, made by the Martinborough Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

MARTINBOROUGH TOWN DISTRICT.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Martinborough Town Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £200, 10 per centum on the loan of £2,000, authorised to be raised by the Martinborough Town Board, under the above-mentioned Act, for completing the roads and footpaths authorised by special order dated the 22nd day of November, 1905, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 18th January, 1906, the said Martinborough Town Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Martinborough Town District, comprising all that portion of the Township of Martinborough containing by admeasurement 1,280 acres, and described in Proclamation dated the 25th day of March, 1905, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 30th day of March, 1905; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off, and the rate of interest thereon shall be at the rate of 4 pounds per centum per annum.

Made and passed by the Martinborough Town Board, this 19th day of September, 1907.

The resolution to make this special rate was passed at a special meeting of the Martinborough Town Board held at the Board’s office, Martinborough, on Thursday, the 19th day of September, 1907, and was confirmed as a special order at a subsequent meeting of the said Board held at the same place on the 24th day of October, 1907.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Wanganui, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

I HEREBY give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Wanganui was on the 30th day of October, 1907, taken, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the amendments thereof, upon the following proposal: The Wanganui Borough Council hereby gives public notice that it proposes to raise a special loan of £5,000 (in addition to £40,000 already authorised to be raised for the same purpose) for the following undertaking—namely, the construction, under “The Tramways Act, 1894,” and other acts enabling it in that behalf, of an electric tramway along the streets of the said borough and outside the borough to a point in the Waitotara County on the Riverbank Road, and the providing of electric tram-cars, power-house, car-shed, and all land, buildings, machinery, appliances, plant, apparatus, and things necessary or convenient for the purpose of constructing, maintaining, and working such tramway, and for the extension of such tramway and all things incidental thereto or used in connection therewith, and to establish a sinking fund during the currency of the loan of £1 10s. per centum per annum on the amount for the time being of the said loan actually borrowed for or towards payment of such loan at its maturity, and to appropriate and pledge by way of security to provide for the payment of interest on such special loan and charges, and the payment of such sinking fund, an annually recurring special rate of 1d. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property within the said borough. The whole of the said loan is to be repayable at the expiration of twenty years from the raising of the loan. It is proposed to pay out of the loan-moneys the cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest on the loan during the construction of the said works.

And I further give notice that at such poll the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 686, and against the proposal, 399.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

NOTICE OF RESULT OF POLL ON LOAN.

In the matter of “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts amending the same respectively.

I HEREBY give notice that on the 7th day of November, 1907, a proposal was submitted by the Omaka Road Board to the ratepayers of the Omaka Road Board District for raising a special loan of £3,000 for the following undertakings:—

(1.) The amount of the Board’s share in connection with the construction of the bridge known as “the Nelson Street Bridge” £900
(2.) The construction of a new bridge in place of the bridge known as “Batty’s Bridge” 100
(3.) The construction of a new bridge in place of the bridge known as “Conolly’s Bridge” 150
(4.) The construction of a new bridge in place of the bridge known as “Pattie’s Bridge” 350
(5.) The construction of a new bridge in place of the bridge known as “Coleman’s Bridge” 200
(6.) The construction of a new bridge in place of the second bridge also known as “Coleman’s Bridge” 150
(7.) The construction of a new bridge over the Omaka River on the Middle Renwick Road, to be known as “the Omaka Bridge” 850
(8.) Redwood Pass culverts 300

And that the number of the votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 155; against, 48: total number of votes polled, 203.

And as the total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceeds three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I declare the said proposal to be carried.
