by special order resolve to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £3,000 by the issue of thirty debentures of £100 each, bearing interest at the rate of £4 5s. per centum per annum, for constructing the following sanitary work—namely, an underground urinal at or near the intersection of Manchester Street and High Street; an underground urinal at or near the intersection of High Street and Cashel Street; and underground lavatories, water-closets, and urinals for both sexes of the general public in Cathedral Square.
(b.) That the security for the said loan and providing a sinking fund in respect thereof shall be a special rate of ⅞d. in the pound to be made and levied upon the whole of the rateable property within the boundaries of the City of Christchurch, and that the said loan shall be repayable at the office of the Christchurch City Council, in the City of Christchurch, upon the 31st day of October, 1932. It is not proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan or the interest for the first year.
(c.) That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on the said loan of £3,000 so authorised to be raised by the Christchurch City Council, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of constructing the following sanitary work—namely, an underground urinal at or near the intersection of Manchester Street and High Street; an underground urinal at or near the intersection of High Street and Cashel Street; and underground lavatories, water-closets, and urinals for both sexes of the general public in Cathedral Square—the said Christchurch City Council hereby makes a special rate of ⅛d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property comprised within the boundaries of the City of Christchurch; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
And that it be publicly notified that the before-mentioned resolution will be submitted to a meeting of the said Christchurch City Council, to be held in the Christchurch City Council Chamber, situate in Oxford Terrace, Christchurch, at 7.30 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 23rd day of September, 1907, for confirmation as a special order.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Christchurch City Council held on the 26th day of August, 1907, and was duly confirmed at an ordinary meeting of the Council held on the 23rd day of September, 1907.

Special Order making Special Rate.
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the following special order, making a special rate to meet the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,750, was duly passed at a special meeting of the Council on the 6th day of May, 1907, viz.:—
That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Kawhia County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £1,750 (this is portion of a loan of £12,000 for two successive years’ expenditure), authorised to be raised by the Kawhia County Council, under the above-named Act, for the purpose of providing for the widening and metalling of the Pirongia West Road, the said loan to be for a period of forty-one years, and that the interest to be paid is at the rate of 4 per centum per annum, the said Kawhia County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1¹¹⁄₁₆d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Pirongia West Special-rating District, comprising Sec-
tions 1, 2, and 3, Block I, Pirongia West; Sections 1 and 2, Block IV, Kawhia North; Section 1, Block VIII; Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, Block VIII, Pirongia West; and on half Sections 2 and 3, Block VIII: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and shall be payable on the 1st day of March in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until such time as the loan is fully paid off.
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Kawhia was affixed in the presence of—
