CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the Cambridge Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £800, authorised to be raised by the Cambridge Borough Council, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act, for repaying the existing bank overdraft and other liabilities lawfully incurred in connection with (1) the municipal gas-supply, viz., the sum of £550; (2) the waterworks extension scheme, viz., the sum of £125; (3) the erection of public saleyards, viz., the sum of £125, the said Cambridge Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Cambridge, comprising 658 town sections and fifty-one Town Belt sections, containing 1,083 acres, more or less, and being situated in Block IX, Cambridge Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 31st day of March and the 30th day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council held on the 21st day of March, 1907, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 20th day of April, 1907.

Special Order re Loan of £800.
That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the Cambridge Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of repaying the existing bank overdraft and other liabilities lawfully incurred in connection with (1) the municipal gas-supply, viz., the sum of £550; (2) the waterworks extension scheme, viz., the sum of £125; (3) the erection of public saleyards, viz., the sum of £125, the said Cambridge Borough Council hereby authorises the raising of a special loan of £800 for the above-mentioned purposes; and to make an annually recurring special rate of 1½d. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property in the said borough as security for the interest and sinking fund in connection with such a loan. The whole of the loan to be payable at the expiration of fifty years from the date of raising the loan.

The above resolution was duly passed at a special meeting of the Cambridge Borough Council held on the 21st day of March, 1907, and was duly confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 20th day of April, 1907.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Timaru, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

TIMARU BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Proposal to raise a Special Loan of £50,000 for Drainage Purposes.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 24th day of April, 1907, a proposal was submitted by the Timaru Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Borough of Timaru: To borrow £50,000, having a currency of fifty years from the issue of the debentures of the said loan, under “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and its amendments, “The Timaru Borough Council Sewerage, Drainage, and Loans Act, 1905,” “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, and in pursuance of all other powers possessed by it, for the construction of borough drainage and sewerage works (in accordance with plans and particulars prepared by Mr. Marchant and deposited in the said Council’s office), and for house and other building connections not exceeding £10 per house or building connection, and for the other purposes in relation thereto prescribed by the said Acts or any of them, and the proposed security for which loan will be 6d. in the pound sterling of the general rate on the annual rateable value of all rateable properties in the said borough, and that the provisions for the repayment of the said loan will be a sinking fund of 10s. per cent. per annum on the amount of the said loan, and that the preliminary expenses and cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest on the said loan shall be paid thereout; and that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For the proposal, 628; against the proposal, 258.

And I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” I, William Hall-Jones, Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 6th day of May, 1907:—

PART I.—PASSENGERS.

Regulation 11.

Public-school Cadets.

Insert—
When an officer commanding a battalion travels in the same train as the battalion he may travel first class. For single journeys ordinary fares will be charged. For return journeys 2d. per mile will be charged for the actual distance travelled one way only.

Tourist excursion tickets, (a) and (c) series, will be obtainable also at Alexandra.

Insert—
BOYS TRAVELLING TO AND FROM THE TRAINING-SHIP “AMOKURA.”

12A. Second-class return tickets at the rate of 1d. per mile, mileage counted one way only, will be issued to boys and youths not exceeding sixteen years of age when travelling to any port in New Zealand to join the training-ship “Amokura,” or when travelling to present themselves for examination for that purpose.

Applications for tickets must be accompanied by a certificate in the following form, duly signed by applicant before a Justice of the Peace:—

“I hereby certify that I am proceeding to* for the purpose of presenting myself on board the training-ship ‘Amokura’ for the purpose of†

“Signed by applicant, before me, this __ day of __, 19____, Justice of the Peace.”

  • Insert here name of port. † Insert here “being examined” or “joining the training-ship.”

Similar tickets will also be issued to boys belonging to the training-ship “Amokura” when travelling to their homes for holidays on presentation of a certificate in the following form:—

“I hereby certify that the bearer, __, is a lad belonging to the training-ship ‘Amokura,’ and that he is travelling from __ to __ for the purpose of spending his holidays at his home.

“(Signed) __, Captain.”

Certificates need not be stamped. Tickets will be available for return for one month from date of issue.

Return excursion tickets for the through journey by rail to Fairlie, thence by coach to Mount Cook Hermitage, returning via Kurow or Fairlie, or by rail to Kurow, thence by coach to Mount Cook Hermitage, returning via Fairlie, will be issued between the 1st November and 31st March, available for return for three months from date of issue (subject to the coach portion of the journey being completed on or before 30th April).
